Hi Faithful, I glad you liked my story and I hope you are feeling better soon. I know what you mean about the jeans. When i first started gaining I refused to buy new clothes but my emotional issues wouldn't let me stop eating and i was forced to buy something. I think my bottom this time was the day I went into Lane Bryant for the first time in years. I felt so bad for myself that food was not comforting anymore and went to my doctor for help. I think I was really ashamed because I took such a big risk to lose the weight in the first place that I couldn't go back to my old self. That's not me anymore. I was truly blessed when I found SP and all of the people on here who have stories to tell and are struggling the same as me. I didn't have any complications after my surgery but I ended up with severe acid reflux disease. At first I didn't know what it was. I couldn't eat for a month, nothing but popsicles. water wouldn't even go down. As I got better, The only thing that would settle my stomach most of the time was ice cream. I was never a big ice cream fan but it did help and turned into a serious habit. Between that and medication i'm all better now. I don't even take the medication anymore, i'm just stuck with some bad eating habits i have to conquer. I glad that you were able to get better and back on track . I am so glad you shared your story with me, Thank you so much. Hopefully we can chat again.

Hi Margow, Your post was interesting. I too had major open surgery with a long scar. I lost a total of 130 pounds, so I think I did pretty good. I lost the weight too fast tho, and got blocked bile ducts so that took a few months to settle down as it resulted in some major abdominal infections. That slowed me down on the exercise, and I have had other medical problems - unrelated to the WLS, ever since.
I am now feeling some better and trying to get back into exercising and watching my sugar intake. I never did get sick when eating sweets, after my surgery. I was hoping I would! I can't stand really sweet things like ice cream... but that is about it.
I am on the downward track again, and I am glad I got back on track before I gained any more weight! I wear a size 8 jean - and while they are tight right now, I absolutely refuse to buy a larger size! So my jeans may get thread bare befoe I am back in a good fit size 8, but I know it is coming. This Sparks program has really helped my confidence that I can do it again - after all... I am only needing to loose 30 pounds this time... not 130! Hope you have a blessed day! Faith

| When I had my surgery they told me that the weight loss was a temporary fix and that i needed to exercise and learn to eat but i do agree that there needs to be more follow up. My sister in law had WLS also a few years ago with very little results. Mine was a major open surgery with a foot long incision and hers was a laser operation with 5 tiny cuts. I don't know if that made a difference but i felt bad when her results were next to nothing. I'm glad i did it, i learned alot but it's not a cure for my emotional eating.

| I had RNY weight loss surgery 3 years ago. They emphasized the 18 months "window" of opportunity to loose weight. But not much was said about the need to continue to watch your intake and exercise... long term. There was little to no follow-up after the surgery except for the medical checks. I wish they would link with a program like yours right from the start - and require folks who get WLS to also work at relearning their life style - the neede to change how they LIVE and EAT for the rest of their lives. I have seen so many people regain all their weight! I lost 130 pounds, but have regained 40. I found this site and have lost 10 pounds and I am learning things I never knew before! I am determined to get these other 30 pounds off and keep them off. If I adopt to this new life style... I have hope that my efforts will not be in vain! Thank you so much for being available - and free of charge! This is just great!

| I had gastric bypass about 7 years ago. At my highest weight I was around 280 and at my lowest I was about 165. It was the best thing I could do for myself and my health. I learned so many tools during my weight loss process. Unfortunately life has a crazy way of showing us how to stay focused. I lost focus for alittle while and gained about about 50 lbs. I started to find the focus and found SP along the way. SP has been a blessing to me as well as all the people who have been supporting me through SP. Thank you SP for helping me regain my focus!
