Yo, Butch! Join us over in the cafe, where we've moved the Guys Lounge.
If you have any old furniture, we still need more. PJ winds up sitting cross-legged on the floor, and that's bad for his back. And Matt is always just standing there, grooving his putting stroke. So if you have anything, even an old kitchen chair, that'll help.
Oh, and the new guy has to bring a case of beer. We prefer light, but will take anything.
Gabe

Hey Joe, technical question: Can we move this Lounge and all its posts to the Cafe, or the Health and Fitness Forum? As Cyp so wisely noted, the What's Going on at SP Forum isn't a place where folks are likely to find us.
So: Can we be uprooted and put back down? Or should we start a new Lounge elsewhere?

Hey Gabriel
Great idea... I'll make sure I pull up a seat and hang out for awhile.
I love texas holdem... I've only played about 10x, but I really enjoy it.

Hey, Matt, thanks for joining the fun. Any of you guys play Texas Hold 'Em? (Just joking. Sort of.)
Matt--More improvements on the golf front. My teacher showed me what he calls the "phone pole" drill to help me release my wrists. He sticks two club shafts stuck together into the ground, stacked on top of each other, and puts them 6 inches in front of my hands at setup. Then I swing and have to not touch the shafts. It seems to work.
All--I've been working out like a madman (for me). About four days a week, doing this program with exercise ball/med ball/bands/dumbells. Gettin' pretty good at this. My older son, whose 14, stuck a finger in my belly and said, you must be trying to make a muscle in your gut. But I wasn't. It's just getting a lot stronger there. My wife also said my butt was getting thinner. (Oops, Too Much Information again. Sorry.)
We just joined this thing called the Izaak Walton League, a conservation group. My kids are getting into fishing and (really) shooting, and the group is very eco-aware and safety oriented. I'm learning to shoot, for the first time. Shot some doves on our last visit to the in-laws in Michigan. It's a lot harder than it looks.
As my younger son says, "Yeah, we learn all about taking care of the earth, then we get to shoot birds!"
See you guys later. Happy Friday.

nah, the hotel is pretty good. there is a nice fitness center. i'm just sort of working like nuts.
the walking is a great idea and this is a pretty cool area. i dont have a pedometer but i have a GPS watch that will tell me how far i've walked. i'll have to try that.

Hey PJ, When I travel for business, I try to walk like crazy (it also helps you get the city's color and texture, not just hotel and tourist sites). I use a pedometer and try not to quit until I hit 10k steps.
I also pack an exercise band. You'd be surprised how much you can do in your hotel room.
And of course check out the health club. I do stuff like steam/sauna/hot tub much more on business travel--time to chill in the p.m.--more than other times.
Of course, if you're stuck in highway motels, this dosn't apply. That's pretty hard to take.

great going with the gym and the golf.
i'm in a bad situation with travle right now. i'm stuck in a hotel room 3 nights a week and i feel like i've got to spend the time at home catching up with the kids.
i'm starting back onb running but i'mn doing it slowly so i dont get discouraged.

Yo PJ, Acrimony, indeed. I just went back and read the stuff going on with Lou, GolfPro (who I've also corresponded with), etc. I can't believe people get so exercised (no pun) about this stuff. That's something I have no desire to get into.
I don't know how these boards work, but maybe we can turn this into the Guys Lounge?
I've got some good stuff going on since starting SP--been to the gym (a new one for me, right near work) 4/5 times a week, keeping my cals below 2,000 (it's more a matter of measuring portions and quitting when my cals get too high for the day rather than committing to rabbit food).
I play golf (not well; just three years into it), and man, walking 9 or 18 holes really burns off the calories. (check it out on the fitness calculator. I've burned off nearly 1,000 a couple times.)

| dude, after today i'm with you!

I'm wondering if SP would consider adding a forum for guys. It's sort of hard to find guys on the boards, and I'd enjoy a place where we could virtually congregate. Nothing anti-female--or pro-Augusta National--at all in this suggestion. Just something I'd appreciate, and I suspect others might too. . .
