Ok, adding the word month there probably only confused things...if you wanted to "edit" a goal, you would actually have to create it anew in the form you wanted it, and delete the old one, I guess that's what I wanted to say

The goals will continue running until you delete them. If you wanted to create a goal in the middle of the month you could simply adjust the overall Team Goal to account for it only being a partial month. Then, once the next month starts, you could re-adjust the overall Team Goal to account for the full month.

Yep, it makes sense. So, to "edit" it, I would actually have to create an additional goal in the "edited" version I want, and delete the old goal/version, hoping not to mess up anybody's tracking-or just wait till next go-round to try out the feature by starting fresh.

That is correct, the Team Leaders create the Team Goals. You cannot edit a Team Goal once it has been created, but you can edit the overall goal for the Team.
In other words, if you had a goal to "Run 1 mile per week" as a Team Goal, with the overall goal to run 100 miles per week, you can't edit the "Run 1 mile per week" part of the goal, but you can edit the Team's goal of 100 miles.
I hope this makes sense!

So the leader has to choose for everyone, the individual members cannot choose for themselves, is that right? And can you change it mid-month? By this I mean, edit it after the goal is in progress?

Hi MARTIET,
Go to a SparkTeam you are the Leader for, and click to add a Team Goal. On the page to add the goal, you will see a new field called "Goal Type." There are two types to choose from - "Enter Number" - which Team members will track by entering how many of something they did, and "Checkbox" - which will allow your members to track with one click.
