i have the same problem and alot of other people i know do to. the problem is when your in colledge you usually go for cheap and coveinent, and your body is tired all the time so you crave sugar. sugar craving just makes you feel worse in the longe run though; and cheap and conveint wheater its from the food store or the cafateria is high in fat. that is the reason so many gain weight in college because we eat high fat sugary food. the best thing i know to do is not to press yourself for results by thinking about your weight all the time; as well as grabbing fruit insted of junk. In about a week you feel a whole lot better and energetic and the weight will fall off by itself.

everyones talking about doing something to get your mind off eating but sometimes i get the urge to "emotional eat" BECAUSE of what im doing. like homework- every time im doing my homework and im like on a roll or something then i get stuck on a question or get tired or bored ill go get a chocolate bar. so that doesn't always work- im not going to not do my homework just so it stops me from eating

Hi, i'm also like you guys..ever since i got to college, i'm eating like never before. it's like there's no tomorrow. i know that i should change it, but i can't stop it. i really can't stop eating sweets, junk foods, etc. when they're right in front of me. also, it doesn't help that i never have a full sleep due to homework! but whenever i do, i still eat loads. i don't know what's my problem. please help me. i'll be turning 18 this year, and i want to be fitter(i want to lose 10 pounds) on that day. that would really help me feel special.:D:) thanks!

hey...i was never an emotional eater but i do have bad eating habits. apparently, if you feel like to munch on something, but you aren't that hungry, just listen to your favorite music, that will help you take your mind off the food...studies proved it. another good tip to lose weight is going up and down the stairs for 20 minutes non-stop...it may sound easy but..you will end up breathing like a dog after these 20 minutes. by doing this i have lost 16 pounds in the last month and a half. another good tip is to have 9 hours of sleep, overweight teens are sometimes overweight simply because they don't get enough sleep.

yeah emotional eating is a big problem for me... i have the biggest urge to pig out when im super stressed like midterms, boyfriend issues, family problems, and bad hair days. but wat i do to get rid of the urges without pigging out is i do someting that keeps me busy. i go outside, read, swim in the pool, i even play my PSP. the point is keeping my mind off of that ice cream in the frezzer helps. if you fail to find something to do just get away from the kitchen and think how you would feel after eating that whole bag chips... not so good right? right! so remember if your stomach isnt grumbling then there is no need for me to eat that extra piece of pizza!

I'm kind of an emotional eater, too, but I've noticed that the longer I'm on my diet, the more I want to overcome that emotional eating. Whenever I'm feeling like I may need to emotionally eat, I think, "Why should I ruin almost a month of healthy eating for something that's bad for me?" Because it really is bad for you. You eat unhealthily, you gain weight, and it hurts your psyche. Whenever you eat emotionally, sure you feel good while your shoveling it down, but afterwards you feel like a failure and that's no way to live.

The thing to do is to replace your emotional eating with something else. If your bored and start to feel hungry, grab a book and start reading! I've recently learned to do this and you will be surprised at how much it distracts! If you dont like reading, you can try exercising when you're bored or do some kind of sport. If you have any hobbies, thats great too!

I'm an emotional eater as well. When I'm upset, bored, frstrated, depressed, angry, ANYTHING, I'll pick up somethingand snack sooo much I need advice as well x.x What I try to do is wait until I'm hungry, find out what I want to eat, then eat slowly. I haven't figured out how to tell when I'm full though.. it's really stressing!

I'm a bit of an emotion eater to but i eat more when i'm bored. My Dad read this book and it said that most people mistake a call for water with a call for hunger. So they eat when they r hungry. So i've started carring a water bottle everywhere even around the house. It sort of works and evenif it doesn't work for u the water is good for you
Good Luck Lydz xxx

teens.sparkpeople.com/resource/Nutrition_articles.asp?id=198&page=1 thats a good thing to read it has foods that are healthy for you. if u want to not eat tho what i do is go for a walk or exercise in some way. it helps u calm down and also it gets you away from food. or you can chew gum or have a salad cz thats low in calories.
