I know it is hard, but don't compare yourself to others. Make some smaller goals and work on those, make sure they are reasonable and attainable. You don't have to be perfect - nobody is. It takes some time to change our habits so do the best you can.

Don't forget to check out the Resource Center - there are a lot of helpful articles in there with tips/ideas on nutrition, fitness & motivation. Here are a few that I would recommend starting with:

A Teen's Guide to Nutrition & Healthy Eating
A Teen's Guide to Fitness & Exercise
A Teen's Guide to Weight and Body Confidence

the thing is, at first you have to push yourelf really hard (for the first 2-3 weeks) but after that it becomes easier. you start losing wieght (at first it seems like nothing, but it does add up!) and then you NEVER want to gain it back and thats what keeps me going. soon you wont really care for sugary junk.
happy dieting!

Hi, I'm Cristina and I'm 14. My life is the pretty basic one. I don't mean to sound all snobby, but I am one of the popular girls at my school. However, it goes without saying, that I am the most overweight popular girl. I go to a small prep school where basically no one is fat or even that much overweight. I have constantly tried to do stuff to help me lose weight, but I can't really admit to my parents about trying to lose weight. I think that is in part, because my mom is always telling me I'm fat and I need to lose weight, and in order to spite her, I do nothing. I'm just sick of being like I am, because I am only 5'3", really short and I weigh almost 140, which may not seem like a lot, but on a petite frame it really is. I just want to know what keeps all you guys going, and how you have so much perseverance in all this.
Thank you!
-Cristina
