Hi Kat, not eating or not eating enough will slow your metabolism down a lot and will keep you from being healthy. Eating a healthy diet and getting exercise (cardio and strength training) will help you meet your goals. You may want to take a look at some of these articles:

I don't seem to stop putting on weight, I moved house when i was thirteen and mixture of things has just made me confort eat and eat. I've tried loads of different diets but i seem to go too extreme (aka eating nothing and loosing 2 lbs a day) or just not enough! my self confidence has taken a plummit and i have times of extreme depression about it, my friends don't seem to relise that i hate my body so much because normally I'm a happy girl who is social and stuff...

i just don't know who to turn to because my friends think I'm just being silly but i really do hate my body! does anyone have any tips for motivation? and any ideas how i can loose weight in a controlled way without my friends thinking I'm anorexic??

thanks

Hi Crystal, welcome to SparkTeens!

You can't change your habits overnight, so don't be so hard on yourself. Having a treat now and then is perfectly okay. This is about learning to life a healthy lifestyle, not just a diet.

I would recommend checking out the different sections of the Resource Center for some ideas for your healthy lifestyle.

Also, have you joined any teams? If not, you may want to check out some SparkTeams that may interest you. Being a part of a team may help motivate you as well.

Let me know if you have any questions.

Ive always been a little chubby but when i moved to the US i really started gaining some pounds...So im 13, 5'2 ish, and 159 pounds! My mom gets healthy food and stuff (she would like to lose weight too) but then sometimes i guess her mind just wonders off and she ends up getting junk food too! Like last night she decided to go get some movies and then we went to the grocery store to get milk and she got ice cream and cookies too! can you believe that! and i mean im not the type that can avoid the freezer all day. For instance I got up early, i ate a yogurt for breakfast then i went and walked on the treadmill for 30 minutes, then i was a bit tired so i watched some tv and accidentaly fell asleep i woke up about 2 hours later and the first thing that came to my mind was the icecream and cookies that were upstairs just waiting for me to come and eat them. So i had some! And now i feel terrible! and i feel like im never going to be able to lose weight because i just have no motivation and its like that every day! Like for instance i know i should be working out right now but i dont feel like it! maybe when i finish typing this i might go work out....but i would love to have someone to motivate me and someone to talk to when i feel like having something fatning...anyone up to the challenge?

please respond!!
Crystal M.
