Summer is right about the rate of weight loss--1 pound a week is more realistic and healthy.

Also...the amount of exercise you listed here--2-4 hours daily IS way too much. For one, no one needs to exercise at that level, and if you try, you're going to get burned out really quickly. Also, the things you listed were cardio, which is great, but don't forget about strength training which will help you reshape your body and sculpt some lean muscles--which also helps your weight loss efforts.

I recommend that you read through our Teen Health Guides, which you'll find on your Start Page (under the My Tools tab) to learn more about how much exercise and weight loss is safe.

Good luck reaching your goals!

Only you can decide wheather you're doing enough exercise. Since we are all different and have different fitness levels no one can be certian what is right for you.

However I do have some advice. Try to avoid doing this EVERYDAY. You're body needs at least a day or two to rest. They don't have to be in a row, but deffintely keep that in mind.

Also, 70 pounds is a pretty big goal for just one summer. Since you're only a teenager, your body is still developing and a healthy rate would be about 1 pound a week. Anything more, and you're putting your body at risk.

Assuming your school starts in september this year. I would say that about 20 pounds is a good goal to start. You can always continue in the beginning of your school year to lose the rest of the weight.

But good luck with your goals, I'm sure you'll do great :)

Ok, next year I am going to be a freshman in highschool so I would like to lose some weight over this summer....I don't have a job this summer so I can monitor what I eat and exercise a bunch. I plan on doing turbo jam, and using its recipes, there are some really good ones......

Is 1-2 hours on the treadmill and 1-2 turbo jam dvds each day enough?? I need to lose 70 lbs.
