I think you should go to a doctor (preferably a chiropractor) to see if a brace will heal it, or you need physical therapy. He/she will be able to answer your question.

Definitely stay away from running if it's causing your joint pain--if you exercise through the pain, you're only setting yourself up for more trouble and worse injuries. I'd talk to your doctor and see what he or she says about that and potential physical therapy.

Okay, I recently discovered I love running. I also discovered that my ankles are even weaker than I though and since in the last 2 years I've sprained them at least 4 times that says a lot) Also I'm starting to get some pain in my knee.

I'm the person that pushes herself to the end or farther once I get started. My family even has a history of being compulsory. So when I running and I feel pain I ignoring telling myself, I'm almost done, I just need to prove to myself that I can do this.

Now I know this is unsafe and I'm going to ruin my ankles and knees. So I need to know how to strengthen or prevent this pain. Should I take up physical therapy again? Or is this something I can take care of myself? Please help!
