I don't know much about speed related to cycling. Instead of focusing on speed or distance, pay attention to total time spent--try to increase that over time. But 40 minutes is great! Right in line with the amount of exercise you should do.

While I have this thread...how far should I cycle?
Yesterday I did about 5 miles in 40 minues, is that good? Or too slow?

Actually, cycling does not make your thighs bigger.

I wanna start biking, but I was just wondering, I know that cycling can make your thighs bigger, but just how much so? I know it's all muscle too, but I don't want bulky!
