Look for a registered dietitian. If you feel that it's important, ask your doc for a referral to one.

You can just set up an appointment with a local nutritionist/dietician? Because currently I don't know one.

If you want to know about your diet and fitness levels and stuff regarding your lifestyle changes, I would recommend going to a dietitian or nutritionist. I know that I am very healthy but sometimes I just don't feel like I am. That is why I am going to a nutritionist, just for their opinion on the matter as a positive reinforcement for me.

Hey Dani-

This is a great question--way to be proactive in your health! I think it's great to keep your doctor posted on your progress. Maybe just mention the types of changes you've made since your last visit, in terms of healthy eating and exercising, so that they can keep it in your records and offer any feedback if necessary. You could also ask about your weight and where it falls in terms of what is healthy.

Beyond that, while doctors are great at what they do, most of them are not eating or fitness experts. So you probably can't expect a lot of detailed advice about what to eat or how much to exercise. But if you have experienced any sort of symptoms that concern you since your new lifestyle started--changes in your period, changes in how you look or feel, pain or any injuries--then be sure to mention that and ask how to deal with it or prevent it in the future.

Good luck! I'll bet that your doctor will be very proud of you for taking these positive steps for your health!

I have a doctor's appointment in 1 week -- it's my first appointment in a while and first since I started my fitness program...what should I ask my doctor while I'm there? You know, in terms of diet and fitness?
