Just do a mix of cardio and ab exercises. Try doing at least 100 crunches everyday, then maybe every other day do 500 crunches:
100 normal crunches
50 reps of "bicycle" crunches
50 reps of reverse crunches with legs bent
50 reps of reverse crunches with legs straight up in the air
50 reps of (legs straight up in the air) reaching with your hand to the opposite foot.
50 reps crunches with knees to the left
50 reps crunches with knees to the right
100 normal crunches again

and that makes 500 crunches!

for your cardio, you could:
swim laps
run
jump rope
go biking
use cardio machines like the eliptical, stationary bike, treadmill, etc....

those are just some ideas for cardio. try to have at least three 25-minute cardio sessions per week.

Try walking 3 miles, and then work up from there. Eventually you'll be jogging and running better. It increases your endurance, begin where you feel comfortable.

well, i do jogging and sometimes swimming. But i get tired easily. That's why i'm trying to find something simpler than jogging to reduce cellulite.

SHARLYNN, you won't burn the fat by doing crunches, you burn the fat by doing cardio -- you know, running, aerobics, jumping rope, swimming, biking, that kind of thing. Doing sit ups and crunches only build muscle, which is a good thing, but you want to burn the fat while you build muscle so that a toned core can be revealed. Do you do any cardio activities, and if so, what kind?

I do about 60-100 a day. (I do karate and I'm required to do that many)

Just change up the pattern of sit-ups (I prefure Chrunches btw.) Do mabie 15 regular, 15 twisting to the left, 15 twisting to the right, and mabie 15 more regular. Or change the 15 to 25 and do the same thing.

That's what I do to work my core (along with cardiovascular exercises such as Karate, Runnning, Walking, Basketball, and Swimming.

but whatever your body can handle.

Yeah, S, and in addition, do some core strength training. That won't cause you to lose the fat around your midsection, like Coach Jen said, but you will build lean muscle that will show when the flab disappears from doing cardio.

S,

There's no way to target weight loss to specific areas of the body. Cardio exercise will help with overall fat loss, but your body will decide where it wants to take the weight off. Your best bet is to just stick with a healthy diet and regular exercise, and eventually, you should lose from those areas where you carry extra fat.

Hope that helps,

Coach Jen
