When I was in high school we had a test to run a 12 minute mile actually lol and we had 2 weeks to train for it. I had a hard time because I wasnt used to running but you kind of have to build up to that.
If you have trouble breathing than you have to start slower and work your way up, then you will be able to run it with no breathing problems.
I would try diving up the 10 minutes by a quarter mile and start from there. The time you run for a quarter mile would have to be 2 minutes and 30 seconds. Start out with that and try to lower your time to 2 minutes. You won't have as much trouble breathing because you aren't running as much. Then slowly add on a quarter mile, and then another until you reach a mile.
Its hard explaining but if you start out slow and work your way up you won't have as much trouble with it, instead of beating yourself up and trying to work your body too hard to reach that 10 minutes.
Hard explaining but hope I helped a little lol, good luck and let us know how it goes!

| Okay so in 3 weeks i have cheer tryouts... i mean everything is easy just like the chat and dance we have to learn, but my biggest problem is the mile test. You have to run a mile under 10 minutes or you dont get to move on with tryouts. I timed my self an i got 12:00 minutes! im scared because i really want to make the cheer team but the MILE! i walk alot but i try to run a bit i just cant run that long. I have trouble breathing when i run a whole lot. but still does ahybody have ideas to help me get down to 10:00 minutes in 3 weeks?
