I think the best thing is to work with your doctor and/or a physical therapist to assess the problem and determine why it occurs. Then you can work with them to develop a stretching/strengthening plan to help prevent future injury.

| multi directional instability it means that your tendons and ligaments are either slighly streched out like u just did a few 5 second streches or really streched out like mine and its kinda like having streched alot and unless you have muscle built up around the joints they have a tendency to pop out of get displaced or even full on dislocated

im an ex volleyball player and it sounds to me that what u need is a knee brace with patella support (the ones with the hole in the middle) its what i use when i run if u want n easy on easy off brace try a mueller its one that u can wear all the time with out any negative consequences but if u want a VERY supportive 1 its gonna cost u its a mcdavid its abt 30 bucks @ academy but if u wear it all the time you run the risk of becoming dependant on it and your knees will do that all the time if ur not wearing it hope its helps
p.s. im def not a doc but ive had my share of injuries and to me it sounds like you have mild m.d.i. i have it too and if u dont see it before ur 20's u run the risk of walking like a grandma in ur late 20's early 30's

Get a knee brace but a sturdy one with metal in the sides. My knees always do the same thing when I do lunges without it.

| Well, it sounds like you knew what would happen if you went flat out. Maybe you should just tone it down a little. If you keep yourself at a moderate pace you can still get exercise without injuring yourself. Maybe instead of having a short, intense workout you could have a longer, slower one. It sucks that you have to deal with knee problems, just try and remember that you can't go as fast as you might like too. You've got to accomadate for that problem.
