yeahh that's what i meant. of course it's good to keep your whole body in good condition (abs and etc.) that can never hurt. but i mean if you're crunched for time or looking for main areas, squatting is crazy important. squatting down and shuffling to the net and back a couple times is a good workout too.

when ever i train for try-outs i always do TONS of lunges and you will def. want to do some wall sits and practice squatting down as far as you can WITH OUT basically sitting on your heels for support cause while u mite do that between volleys and ppl getting the ball and whatnot u will be squating down alot and coaches look for som1 who can get down low and still stay strong with their passing also if u wanna be a hitter or blocker work of jumping as high as you can if ur going for setter finger and leg strenght is a must abnd for serving (and hitting) work the muscles just under your shoulders and your shoulder muscles because those will come in handy

Volleyball is deffintely a sport that uses your whole body!

You use your arms for passing
Your abs for hitting
Your legs for power
even your fingers/toes/wrists/hips are involved in one way or other

The best thing you can do is work to get all of those as strong as you can. Especially your abs/legs as thats where most of your power comes from.

Hey I'm 15 and I play volleyball. The most important things (as you can imagin) are legs and arms. you basically play the entire game squating so do lots of lunges and squats. i remember my first tournament -6 hours of volleyball- i couldnt WALK the next few days. Also important, arms. hitting, passing, setting, serving-all that good stuff needs strong arms and shoulders. basic push-ups, reverse push-ups, shoulder shrugs, etc. are good

Good luck! i think you'll love it

Hey Kaetlyn-
Check out the Volleball Players SparkTeam. http://teens.sparkpeople.com/myspark/groups_individual.asp?gid=13806

You could talk to some other players there--I'm sure they know exactly what to do to get in shape and train for the season and tryouts.

Good luck to you!
