Strength training helps strengthen your muscles. Cardio helps burn calories/stored fat.

To get into what your body is burning for fuel at any given time is pretty complex. And it's not really the point, b/c it can be confusing and misleading. For example, you actually burn more fat for fuel when you're sitting still as opposed to exercising. But does that mean you shouldn't exercise? Of course not!

What is most important is that you're being active to burn calories--regardless of where those calories are coming from (food you ate, stored fuel in the muscles, or fat). B/c in the end, the more calories you burn, the better you'll lose weight.

Strength training is great, but your fitness program should also include cardio as well.

Hope that helps,

When you do weight lifting, or anything to do with working your muscles like crunches or situps.
Does your body burn fat then add muscle or just add muscles under the fat?
Or is it burning fat and adding muscles at the same time?
