In terms of calorie burning, yes interval training will burn more calories. I wouldn't recommend doing it all the time, but it's good to have a variety of cardio workouts and intensities--like sometimes you'll do a long/easier workout, sometimes you'll do a short/intense workout, and sometimes you'll do intervals. Just keep in mind that interval training isn't for beginners. It's good to start exercising at a slower/easier intensity to build a basic level of fitness (for about 4-8 weeks) before you incorporate intervals.
