Sort of. Think about pulling your belly button inward toward your spine to "flatten" your belly. By pulling inward (sort of like "sucking in"), you're helping to really target your abs. Keep them pulled in as you lift and lower on your crunches.

When you do crunches are you supposed to suck in your stomach?
