I'd never recommend exercising on an empty stomach (go to this link to learn more about why: http://teens.sparkpeople.com/community/ask_the_experts.asp?q=59)

The general rules of thumb are:

Always eat something within 2 hours of starting your workout. This ensures that you have proper fuel for a good workout, and probably won't experience lightheadedness, sickness, etc. related to a lack of food for fuel.

Always eat something within 30 minutes to 2 hours AFTER exercising too--especially something with carbs. Your body will store this inside your muscles, and that's what will give you fuel for a good workout next time.

Good luck!

It's a good idea to wait at least 30 min. after you eat to excersize. But I don't think it really matters if you eat on an empty stomach either. I run in the morning and then eat breakfast, so I don't think that that is an issue (You probably won't burn more calories either way).

How long are you suppose to wait before exercising after eating.

& What is better to eat than exercise or vise vera? Which would burn the most calories, or is it about the same?
