I play soccer also. If your in pain anywhere, put ice on it! Our coach tresses this to us and in track last year, even if our legs didnt hurt at the time he wouls make us put ice on our shins. Try it. Also just keep going strong because after a few more practices you won't get sore anymore!

Hey there, so I run xc and play soccer so I feel your pain. For our soccer team we run stairs for an hour before each practice then core strength and what not after our skills, so for pre season/try outs the next day no one can walk stand or even go down stairs so im pretty used to sore muscles. What I usually do is take an ice bath so a lot of ice in the bath tub and cold water or just a lot of cold water and sit in there for about10-15 minutes. then I stretch after practice and after my ice bath, and i dont feel much the next morning. I also make sure I cool down after practice, usually its forgotten so I take an extra 15 minutes to do a light jog around the track or feild, some dynamic stretches as well as stationary stretches and i feel fine the next day. You should try it it helps me a lot. Hope youre having fun!

BESHOUP- The best thing you can do--as long as this soreness is workout-related and not injury-related--is keep moving! I know it may hurt, but the more active you can be with light to moderate activity the better you'll be able to decrease the muscle soreness you feel.

Hang in there! Remember that the more you stick with it, the easier it will get.

Okay It's only been 2 days and it's INCREDIBLY hard to even stand up! We have to run up a steep hill 5 times, and if someone goes slower then we get one added. What I need to know is: 1.} How to tone down the soreness and 2.} How to run fast up a steep hill! x.x
