Starz,
I disagree that if you're trying to lose weight you should eat less than 1800 calories per day. Especially if you're very active (which it sounds like you are), you need those calories for your training- and to help with weight loss. If you're not eating enough, that's going to make weight loss more difficult. So I'd just make sure you're eating healthy things, but you are fine to eat 1800 calories a day.

quite honestly i work on a 1500 calorie diet. if your body is used to getting 1600 calories a day and you exercise on a regular basis and you still want to get that six pack, my best advice is to work in more adominal exercises and cut calories back a little. there is a delicate balance between how much you consume/burn, especially for teenagers. and there is no such thing as "spot reduction" i.e. 1,000 sit ups a day won't get you a six pack. continue running and strength training on the whole body and do some research on the internet of what professionals do and find which one would suit you. everyone is different, but if you're trying to lose weight 1500-1600 calories will be good for you, but if you're working on endurance and athletic performance then prolly 1800 calories will be good. i'm not saying to go out at eat whatever you want though with those 1800 calories. lots of protein and fiber will help burn fat and keep you full and provide lots of energy.

i am training for cross country and i run a lot, as well as strength train at the gym. i do all this on a very regular basis.
i just want to know, isn't 1800 calories a little... much? i mean, if im working out a lot, and trying to get a six pack and all, will it be safe to eat 1800 or more? will i get all outta shape? i usually eat 1600 calories...
