the best tip i was ever given was not to slam your feet against the ground when you're running mostly because it's not good for you legs
and i've learned that when running (idk why) it's easier when you have your arms moving staright back and forth and not diagnol across your chest (idk if i described that right!)

ive always avoided cramps in my side the best by making sure when i jog or run that they stay up and above my heart...i hope that makes sense......idk why it works but it does.

Just remember that you have to be able to walk before you can jog--so if you're new to running, you might not be able to go very far, and that's normal.

well to start off what shoes you wear are extremely important. But to a comfortable pair of sneakers should work for now. just be careful... if your feet or knees start to hurt then make sure to slow down. as for the breathing, generally you should go in-in and out-out according to pace. i usually breath in and out every time my left foot hits the ground. and lastly if you begin to feel any kind of pain then stop running. but if your getting some discomfort or cramping that is normal. it's usually just your body saying your pushing too hard so if that happens just slow down a little. i hope this helps you somewhat!

I'm hopefully going jogging tomorrow morning with my boyfriend. We both have a few questions about running/jogging.
What is the proper running for and what are some easy mistakes we should be sure to watch out for? And breathing! What is the proper breathing technique and any tips? I always get out of breath so easily and my side begins to hurt and I've heard that's from not breathing properly.
And shoes! What kind of shoes are good to run in? I have a pair of hiking shoes that I got for a trip I went on a few summers ago where we hiked a lot and I've been using these for running. Is that okay?
