Some good calve workouts?

Hi Nicole-
Well, first it's important to know that fat and muscle are two different things--you can turn fat into muscle or muscle into fat. You can tone up your muscles and lose some fat--that's what will help improve your fitness level and appearance, too.

Cardio burns fat. Strength training builds lean muscles. You need both to get in shape.

However, that said, you can't choose where your body will lose extra fat. For example, doing a bunch of calf and thigh exercise won't mean you'll lose weight in that area--that only strengthens the muscles there. Cardio burns fat from all over the body, but you can't really pick and choose where it comes from.

Stick with a healthy cardio program (at least 3 times a week) and strength training for not just your lower body, but all your muscles. You'll find tons of workout ideas in the Fitness Resource Center where you can look at our videos and Workout Generator too.

Hope that helps,

Coach Nicole

He people,

I was wondering what's some good calve and thigh workouts? I have larger legs, that are pretty fatty, and want to either turn that fat to muscle, or lose it altogether. Any tips?
