It's not a stupid question at all. Your body burns a lot of calories each day just by your heart beating, brain functioning, walking to your car, etc. It's a lot more than you'd think- at least 1300 calories or more per day depending on what you weigh.

Hope that helps,

Okay, maybe this seems like a stupid question, but can someone please explain how losing weight works.

For instance, I know you're supposed to burn more calories than you eat, but I still don't get how that works because of the following:

I'm supposed to eat between 1800 - 2025 calories, and I eat twoards the less side around maybe 1800-1900 per day.

Now, I also exercise, but according to the Fitness calculator thing running a ten minute mile is only 140 calories burned.

So, in order to burn more than I eat, I'd have to run like.... Twelve miles.

And yes I understand that simply walking around the house or cleaning, or several other things also burn calories, but... I just don't see how it could ever add up to more than what I'm sposed to eat.

I don't know. Maybe I'm just not seeing the answer right in front of me. Agh.
