I'm glad those helped! It sounds like you have a better understanding, which is great! You are correct, you want to choose foods with real nutrients in them and that is a major key in a healthier body and healthy habits.

Thank you Denise. :)

I have just finished reading up on those articles, and I have to say they helped me a lot! I used to think EVERYTHING with high calories was very bad and low calories were good, but after reading I know it really all depends on the real nutrients your taking in, and understanding the "empty calorie" deal. I've learned many new exercises [which I'm planning to do right now], and ways to pace myself when doing my exercises so I'm not overdoing it.

Thanks a lot for the advice.

Blinky, is it okay if I ask how long you've been on Spark?

Lol, thanks Blinky.

Thanks for the encouragement and the advice. Yeah, you're right about the whole 'pita everyday' deal, and I'm thinking up some items that I can take for lunch from home.

I definetly am drinking more water. Today i've had 3 bottles already (1500mL). I know why everyone says it's so hard. I go into the fridge and I see Sprite, coke, icecream knowing that I have to skip all of that and go straight for the water and fruit. I guess it can be hard at times, but just thinking "Hey, you're going to feel better doing this in the long run" makes me understand that choosing the water and fruit is the right thing and I forget all about the bad stuff.

Thanks a lot. :)

hey! so i know im not a coach. but...

the fact that you have recognized bad habits and are making a conscious effort to change them is a great first step!

your new plan is definately wayy better than your old.

some advice: try to drink more water throughout the day
it will help keep you hydrated but is also vital to your health!

and you could try to have a more diverse diet, instead of saying youll have a pita every day, you could some days, and then bring your own food other days.

but other than that it seems you will make progress from making those steps! keep up the good work!

and feel free to talk to me any timeee.

Well, today has been my real first day of attempting to lose some weight and get healthier. So I just want to know how well my plan is to eat healthy and excercise, compared to my old habits.

So let's start with my old habits. A regular day for me would be:

No Breakfast
No Exercise
For lunch I would usually have a poutine, or a large fries with gravy.
I would have snacks in between [skittles, chips, & pop regularly] lunch.
I would go home from school & eat a snack [chips mostly]
I would then eat dinner, and before I go to bed would also have another snack.
Usually when i go home I would never do anything active and would usually sit on the computer, watch t.v. or play video games.

Not a very healthy school day, am I right? Well, these are my plans for becoming better.

1. I will eat breakfast in the morning [no matter how small it is]
2. No snacks in between, or after, lunch.
3. At lunch, only have pitas [with Ham, turkey, bacon, lettuce, cheese and ranch dressing] depending on what day they are available. If they're not available during that day I will eat something else [not sure what else is healthy in the caf I also may start brining my own lunch.
4. No more pop. At lunch either have a canned juice or water. [most likely juice]
5. When I go home I will eat a healthy snack [a fruit] and some water.
6. No unhealthy snacks before or after dinner.
7. After dinner have another healthy snack [fruit]
8. Avoid junkfood
9. NO UNHEALTHY snacks BEFORE FALLING ASLEEP.
10. At least 30 minutes of exercise EVERY DAY.

In the above, I had basically gotten rid of my old bad habits that made me gain weight in the first place.

So, let's move on to how I did today compared to my goals.

1. Woke up. Since i woke up relatively late I was only able to eat a banana for breakfast. (I was planning to have raisin bran)
2. At school I had no snacks, for lunch I had a large fries [still figuring out what to substitute when there's no pitas] and a can of juice.
3. No snacks after lunch either, except a piece of gum.
4. Went home, and had no unhealthy snacks.
5. Had home-made fettucini alfredo for dinner with white meat chicken pieces, and stick of garlic bread and some orange juice.
6. So far no fruits, water, or exercise.
7. Am planning to get a bottled water after I'm done writing this, and exercise for 30mins.

So, this is my first day, so I guess I'm still trying to work out the kinks in my health schedule. I was just wondering how was this for my first day?

I have few questions.

1. What should I possibly substitute for pitas when it is not available that day at school, or are pitas even good for me?
2. Usually I have: ham, turkey, 1 bacon strip, cheese, lettuce and ranch dressing in my pita. Is this good or should I add more ingredients like tomatoes, peppers, etc. [which I don't like really..]
3. Is chewing gum a good way to get snacking on chips, etc. off of my mind?
4. How many bottles of water should I have every day? How much fruit per day?
5. Is running on spot in my room a good exercise, or am I wasting time when I could be doing other exercises available in a single room

I know this was pretty long, but I am very curious of how I should go about on my healthy diet and exercise. For those who read and reply to my board with helpful thoughts, I thank you very much.
