Yes it would, but I found them for $.70 cents a can, and I stocked up.
I work 10 hour days and am on call 24/7, so there is not alot of time to cook beans and such. But it would certainly cut down on the sodium from canned beans to for those that have problems with sodium.

Sounds yummy! If you use dry beans, it would cut the cost more.

I am on a low fat diet and really hate spending money on things like Garden Burgers. So I messed around with a recipe this weekend and came up with a great one!
1 can black beans, drained 1 can garbonzo beans, drained 1 very large potato, course grated 1 large sweet potato, course grated 5-7 baby carrots grated 1 chopped onion 4-6 cloves garlic 2 tsp beef bullion powder 1 half teaspoon liquid smoke (optional) 2 tsp black pepper 1 tsp cumin 1 tsp smoked paprika 2 eggs or half cup egg beaters 1 cup old fashioned oats
In food processor I grated the sweet potato and white potato, I set it on a course grate. In a fry pan I sauteed chopped onion and garlic, with Pam, for 5 minutes, added grated veggies and cooked for another 6-8 minutes. I added my seasonings to the heated veggies. These seasonings could be switched up. If you omit the bullion you will want to add salt. You could make it verry spicey, or have a rosemary and thyme and lemon zest...options are endless. I set this aside to cool down, in the same processor I put my drained beans and whirled them around till a chunky paste, dont process too much. When the veggies are cooled down add with the beans, eggs and oatmeal. Form into patties and set on a paper covered tray. Set in the freezer until set enough to bag individually (about an hour) This made 15 patties for me, The cook up easy, let them cook until they get a good crust on them.
Veggies can be switched up too, mushrooms and red peppers would be good.
This cost me about $5 to make 15 patties! They are low enough fat for my plan (alli) to have cheese with them on a bun with low fat mayo, pickles condiments! The texture or flavor is not like a burger at all--of course, but they are a great substitute for me!
