All of the artificial sweeteners have side effects - if you are going to consume them, then each person needs to decide for himself which side effects they are willing to accept. For me - none of them are acceptable. I won't put my family's current health and my son's future health at risk to save a few calories. Especially calories that can be "walked/burned" off.
Just because something is a "herb" doesn't mean it is safe and not without risk. Infertility and the possibility of being sterile - just isn't worth it!
And Stevia tastes nasty - I had to throw out a whole dish (double batch), and were only talking about a couple tablespoons in the recipe, I was taking to a family party (I thought I was being kind to those who are diabetic in our family.) This was before I knew of the side effects. I had been told it's "an herb", it's "natural". They forgot to mention the possible side effects!

| I 2nd that. Think about the poor health effects of High Fructose Corn syrup. That aint banned by the FDA.

You're certainly entitled to your opinions but if I followed what the FDA thought I should follow, I'd be in a sorry state indeed.....and that's my opinion.
It is approved in the US, Canada, and many other places as a dietary supplement and Canada has been experimenting with crops since 1987 to determine the feasibility of growing the herb commercially as well as The Coca Cola company and others trying to cash in on the popularity of the herb by creating a stevia derived substitute called Rebiana.
It's also my opinion that the "bad health effects" allegedly caused by stevia are far less of a concern to me than the chemical garbage the FDA does approve of in order to help big money get even more money.

Becareful with Stevia - it's not FDA approved in the US, Canada or Europe. It is a highly toxic herb that has been linked to infertility and sterilization in men & boys. A tsp in your coffee seems to be okay - but not for mass consumption. I had bought some and tried it a few times before I found out the side effects - I decided my husband and boys health wasn't worth the calories we were saving!

I received a sample of Sun Crystals and was wondering if anyone had tried it. It looks like it's supposed to be a "natural" alternative as a sugar substitute.
Thanks for any info that might be shared!
