| My grandmother had a trick to make it less salty. She would bring it to a boil once, then change the water, then bring it to a boil again to finish cooking.

| Thanks for that information. We didn't have any for St. Patty's cuz I was worried about calories and sodium, but I think I will make it as a treat next weekend.

My maiden name is McCann and my married name is O'Neill. So....you betcha we had corned beef, cabbage, potatoes, celery, onions and carrots.
We get the high end cut that has less fat on it though. The point cut is the one with the most fat.
We get the flat cut or the smaller brisket.

Hey everyone. I really need some suggestions. St. Patty's Day is coming up and I really love having corned beef and cabbage. I know that it has to be so high in sodium, fat, etc that I shouldn't have it. It is a tradition in my house though.
Should I just forget tradition and make something different, or should I make it as a small treat. Anyone have an ideas on how to keep it healthy? Any input is appreciated.
Thanks!
