| If she is allergic to sour cream and cottage cheese, it follows that she will also be allergic to yogurt. However, there are soy-based yogurts out there, somewhere. Not here where I live, of course, but somewhere... That could be a solution for you.

| Yep. I've used yogurt instead of sour cream too. You can strain it in a strainer covered with a coffee filter to make it thicken.

| I've used Plain Nonfat yogurt to replace sour cream several times in recipes.
