Hi. Love my oatmeal.I usually add 1 tsp ground flaxseed to the pre-cooked oatmeal and 1 tsp(or less) of honey midway through cooking. The flaxseed gives a nutty flavour and the honey just enough flavor. You could also add cinnamon and grated apples too.

I use regular "old-fashioned" oatmeal, which is fast to cook in the microwave. Once it's done cooking, I add raisins, cinnamon, walnuts or pecans, and sometimes 1 to 2 teaspoons of brown sugar. It sort of tastes like eating an oatmeal raisin cookie for breakfast.

I always use the long cooking oats. Better texture I think. I add chopped apples and cinnamon sometimes.

I don't like the additives in instant oatmeal. Besides, what's more instant than quick oats? 1-1/2 min. & you've got it.Trudy

The instant isn't a large enough serving for the calories. I use the quick cooking and just bring it to a boil, dump in the oats, shut it off and let it sit til I'm done getting ready... instant oatmeal!

This doesn't really answer your question ... but I just wanted to comment that I have found the 5-minute Quaker oats to be a MILLION times better than instant or even the 1-minute oats. They have a completely different (and much better, imho) texture and flavor.

I usually just put about 1/2 tsp of light margarine, a tsp of brown sugar, a sprinkling of cinnamon and maybe a little splenda if I want more sweetness.

I've also added nuts, raisins, chopped apple and apple pie spice and it was yummy.

I tried the peanutbutter and a tiny bit of chocolate and it tasted good, but wasn't really what I wanted for breakfast. I think I might have liked it fine as a late night snack or dessert though.

I use instant oatmeal (usually one of the lower sugar types) to make pancakes -

Good Luck in finding something you like! And try the 5-minute oats if you're ever so inclined ... they are reallllllly good!

My favorite oatmeal additions are a tablespoon of natural Peanut Butter plus some diced Granny Smith apple. I also like it with about 2 tablespoons of canned pumpkin, a little brown sugar and a sprinkle of cinnamon.

I like to add a tablespoon of lite maple syrup. It gives oatmeal a sweet taste and has less fat and calories like the pre packaged oatmeal. Enjoy!

My DH likes to sprinkle cinnamon on his oatmeal. I personally like to add blueberries which seem to get sweeter in the hot cereal. Maybe you have a favorite fruit you can try?!

Morning all. I love to have oatmeal for breakfast, but find that the prepackaged and flavoured ones have too much sugar and fat. I bought a bag of Quaker quick cooking that I can microwave but am looking for ideas to add more flavour....any suggestions??
