Basil, rosemary both grown on the windowsill at the moment... and garlic from last summer's garden... we use these a lot!

I like to add a small amount of ginger to things that I am cooking.

garlic, garlic, garlic. If that is too much, try spices like rosemary, thyme, cumin, herbs de provence, basil, sage, etc. . .they add flavor and not hot spice. Mix it up. . . I have so many spices in the kitchen these days I forget I even have some. They can make an ordinary dish very special.

A long time ago I was trying to cut back on salt and so on my veggies I would always put lemon herb seasoning. Lemon pepper to me was too hot. I like pepper but love the lemon and to get the amount of lemon I wanted I had to get too much pepper. It is by McCormick or Schilling.
Other than that I love differnt spices. I have tried crazy mixed up salt, and that is pretty good.
I have started adding fresh garlic (grated) to many of my dinners. I used old bay seasoning on potatoes the other night and it was good and just plain old seasoning salt I like.
I haven't used Mrs dash very much so can't help there.
That is all I can think of that aren't too full flavored.

I enjoy using small amounts of flavored olive oil (garlic, basil, red pepper). They serve the dual function of being a heart healthy oil and adding mild flavor.

Try them instead of butter and I think you'll like!

How about lemon pepper? Also, Mrs. Dash and McCormick's have various spice blends and I'm sure some of those must be on the milder side. You could check the ingredient lists for those in the grocery store to see if any of the varieties sound like something you'd like.

I'm probably not much help because I LOVE spicy foods - the spicier the better!

I am the queen of picky eaters -- I admit that fully. I am looking to add a little flavor to what I do cook but do not want to use anything with too much zing... Do you have any suggestions as to spices that had a little flavor but not a lot?

Thanks a million!
Rosie
