| I too used ground turkey breast, and my husband didn't complain at all!

My dad put in everything but the kitchen sink! lol We always had fresh veggies on hand. Fresh tomatoes, zucchini squash, onion, basil, mushrooms, but I never had carrots. That sounds good. For meat he used ground beef and added his own spices sometimes meat sauce or meatballs. He also put in cut up chicken (no skin), cut up steak, corish game hen (he put this in homemade baked beans too) and chicken livers(Some say gross, but I admit I grew up with it and liked it.) Dad loved experimenting with different stuff and we would always wind up liking it.
I use ground turkey or ground beef on the lean side. Try different things, you may be surprised. Lisa

| Read the label on the pre-made turkey meat balls, and you will probably find a lot of "fillers" like bread and soy. And they probably aren't any healthier.

I use the 'ground' Boca also, plus oregano, Italian seasoning, garlic, tomato paste, and some grated cheese.
I made begetable soup with ground Boca and was told, "I've never had it with hamburger before."

TNEWBY2 carrots in spaghetti sauce isn't so strange -- I had a chef tell me one time that carrots sweeten the sauce a bit. I guess that can be a benefit while watching sugar as well.

| I use the Boca Burger crumbles in mine; I actually like it better than using ground beef; it doesn't make the sauce greasy like real beef does.

The ground up turkey is probably leaner than the pre-made meatballs - but you have to watch because (at least in my grocery store) the ground up turkey now comes like the beef does (85/15, 90/10, etc). You could get the leanest available and make your own meatballs.
If I want just a meat sauce, I've started using 97/3 ground beef and the leanest ground turkey I can find and combine the two. Your family (and you) will never notice the difference. :)
I also add lots of oregano to my spaghetti sauce because I love the flavor it brings to the sauce.

Here's what I add to mine:
lots of onions lots of mushrooms shredded carrots (the ones pre shredded in the bags at the grocery store, sounds strange but is WONDERFUL and adds great texture)
I use lean ground beef when I do add meat.

I use the ground turkey to make either meat sauce or meatballs. For me it just seems better to have the control over the size and ingredients.
Sometimes I use no meat and add one or all of the following:
onions mushrooms bell peppers

| I want to put meat in my pasta, is it better to use ground turkey or to use the premade turkey meatballs they sell in stores?
