I've never had a problem with Cain's Fat Free Mayonnaise dressing. Of course, I enjoy skim milk also. Eating full fat foods makes me physically ill.
(except for ice cream)!
that being said, in addition to the excellent suggestions below, if I am using the mayo as a dip for say, asparagus or broccoli, I add balsamic vinegar or soy sauce.

| I add an equal amount of dijon mustard to the mayo for sandwiches. Really gives them a zing!

|
| I like to add a little Wasabi paste and a little yellow mustard. I think it really gives it some zip and flavor!

| open the jar, take all the fat free stuff out and dump in trash. Only 3 things I will not give up: Real Mayo, Whole milk, and butter. If I have to eat smaller portions to compensate for using the real stuff, so be it. Food should taste good, and be satisfying. Corn on the cob with fat free spray butter? No way, it even tastes plastic. Had corn on the cob at Country fair one day, they slathered mayonnaise, garlic powder, chili powder, and salt on it, the best I have ever had.

For me, since I joined sparkPeople, I found that some products need a little fat. With mayonaise,I use lite Helman's but have cut my portion size by half. I like to make tuna salad and a large batch gets egg whites, relish, onion, touch of mustard, red wine vinager, celery and 2 tbls of lite Mayo which I get 3 to 4 portions depending on how many boiled egg whites I use. Some products like, fat free I can't believe it's not butter, has the consistancy of pudding and the best thing I could do with it was give it a decent burial..lol.FF Mayo is like that in ingredients and taste, to me.Any nutrisionist would say that the body needs fat to funtion. This program has taught me that, so I pick my fats within the recipe index log that was created for me by sparkPeople. Well now that I have had my senior moment..lol.I wish you luck in your search. good cookin...Chef Jim

You can't.
I just skip mayo alltogether and get just mustard.

| I always add some garlic powder to FF mayo - that way I can pretend that it's aioli. I'll usually add in some paprika as well or some cajun seasoning for a bit of a kick too.

Thanks for your replies to my question. I will try those things. I will look it up under the substitutions in the cafe also.

| I add horseradish. You may also want to stir in some fresh herbs - basil, dill or chives.

| Hi Bobbie Jo, I've just heard somewhere, and it might even have been here in SP...yes, it was. If you check out the thread Your successful substitutions under the cafe...I think someone said to add a touch of spicy mustard and it makes it taste better...but don't quote me on that! But I really enjoy that thread...perhaps you can get some great ideas from it too.

I am trying to switch light mayo for fat-free mayo for sandwiches. What do you use to make it taste better when you are making sandwiches? What spices or other things do you combine with it to give it some flavor?
Thanks, Bobbie Jo
