Thanks all for you advice. I've got plenty to look for and avoid when I'm at the grocery store! :)

Hi,

I buy grain-fed, free-range, frozen chicken breasts.
I cook them (frozen) in the slowcooker with some liquid, veggies, herbs & spices. It comes out moist and tender every time and I get chicken soup at the same time.

Hi there..
I let the frozen chicken cook about 30-45 minutes just because they are starting from frozen. If I remember to take the chicken out of the fridge early enough to thaw, I would say only 20 min or so, chicken doesn't take very long really.

It is very very yummy! Hope you enjoy!

EMNDARMIC, that sounds good with the Tomatoes and chicken; about how long do you let them cook?

I buy the Wal-mart brand too, and haven't had any problems with rubbery chicken. Just make sure you thaw them really well first.

If you have a Food Lion near you, don't buy their brand. It's mostly water and it cooks out and the chicken breasts shrink. GGRRRRRR

I'm not sure if you have a Walmart or Sam's club around you, but I go to Walmart and buy the store brand frozen chicken..I get usually 5-7 very large pieces in a bag for $6.00, my favorite way to fix them is to put them into a large skillet with a lid and pour a can of italian seasoned diced Tomatoes over them..let them cook..yum yum, or I put regular Tomatoes and add my own italian seasoning.

OoOOHhh...I think I may make this tomorrow :)

i always buy tyson skinless boneless chicken breasts, they are the only ones i like. the thighs are much too fatty. i usualy buy them from sams club because they have the best lbs for the price and they last quite a long time.

I recommend buying fresh chicken cutlets when it's on sale,(often I get it for $1.99 per lb). I bag it in freezer bags in the sizes I need. Generally, I weigh and store the food in sizes for two of us and if having company take out more bags from the freezer. In this way, I know how much each cutlet weighs when I need it. It's more work when you get the food home from the store, but much less work when you need it. I like the idea of storing the food with the marinade in the bag before freezing. I usally put it in when I take it out of the freezer so it marinates as it thaws.

Perdue has the perfect portions brand thats sold in the fresh meat case -the breasts are sometimes marinated sometimes plaine and sold in sealed 4 ounce portions -6 per bag - that can be frozen easily.

My grocery store sometimes has them for 6.99 on sale, but gnerally 9.99 is the price.

Since I'm basically cheap at heart, I will often buy packages of chicken tenders or plain breasts and keep a supply of ziplock freezer baggies on hand, and make my ownn portion bags to store in the freezer ad i'll dump in the marinade before they get frozen.

so when they defrost -they're perfectly marinated...

as long as I use them wthin a month or two - they taste fine

Just in my experience, boneless skinless breasts are always dry and rubbery when I get them frozen. So when I have to get frozen chicken I get frozen tenderloins, which always turn out fine. I'm not sure about brands, Tyson is usually really good. =)

I've been in the habit of simply going to the grocery store and picking up a package of chicken as needed. However, due to the fact that I despise grocery shopping, I'd like to make trips there less often therefore I'm considering converting to bags of frozen chicken. I'm extremely picky when it comes to my meat, so I wanted to ask for some advice. What brand of frozen chicken breasts would you recommend or advise me to steer clear of? Any advice based on your own personal experiences would be most helpful in helping me avoid trial and error in this department.
Thank you!
