If I am looking for low"er" cal I go for a Captain and diet coke. I also enjoy a glass of wine!
Now, if I am drinking whatever I want...either a lindtini or a chocolate espresso martini...yumm!!!

| Wine is definintely my drink of choice. Both red and white. Love having a glass of wine with a nice cooked meal. It is just so relaxing to me.

|
|
| I agree...nothing can beat a good red wine. But, I also am a huge fan of the white wine. I like very sweet wines so I am not such a fan of chardonnay.

Margaritas are good, but too caloric. I may try the recipe below, but I try to stay away from Equal and Splenda.
Wine is it for me. I never acquired a taste for beer, and thank goodness, because it's so fattening. I like enough things that add pounds! I can only drink one glass of wine; any more than that, I fall asleep. My husband says I'm a cheap date!

I'm a Guiness girl myself, but have found a beer called Chemay, made by monks, that I reaally like.
For low cal, however, Mimosa's are pretty good: 1/2 and 1/2 champagne and orange juice.
Or a wine spritzer.
Lately, I've been mixing club soda with Sugar Free cranberry juice. It tastes like a Madras, but without a single calorie at all.
I think my Father-in-law left a beer in my fridge. Now I want it.

I love love LOVE this very healthy alternative to the standard margarita and it tastes very similar to one too! Here's the recipie! :)
"(Entire recipe: 105 calories, 0g fat, 58mg sodium, 2g carbs, 0g fiber, 0.5g sugars, 0g protein = 2 Points)
Ingredients:
6 oz. Sierra Mist Free (or Diet Sprite Zero, or your other fave no-cal lemon-lime soda)
*1.5 oz. tequila (I use Jose Quervo Citrus--takes the alcohol flavor away)
1/2 tsp. Crystal Light powdered drink mix, Lemonade (I use the raspberry lemonade mix--it makes the drink taste like pink lemonade)
1 oz. lime juice Optional: lime slice for garnish and salt or no-calorie sweetener for rim of glass
Directions:
If desired, run some lime juice along the rim of the glass and dip into a dish of salt or sweetener. Mix all ingredients together. Pour over 1 cup of crushed ice (I use half of a blender worth of ice--it makes one 16 oz margarita). Optional: Garnish with lime slice. Enjoy. Serves 1!
*You can also make your margaritas alcohol-free. Each recipe, without tequila, contains around 10 calories!"

| My new favorite drink is a Passionfruit Mojito! I went to this great restaurant the other night craving just a Mojito--Passionfruit Rum is the best! It's Captain Morgan's Passionfruit Rum, Cavo Wine and Fresh mint. Makes me want to go right out and buy the ingredients to make them at home!

I stick to wine (preferably red and no more than 5 oz.). I find since I'm training for a marathon that alcohol goes straight to the head these days!
As a special treat, I really enjoy Bombay Sapphire Gin and tonic (and not the diet tonic either -- the aftertaste is too much for me).

I love me some smirnoff triple black. i think a whole bottle is something like 140 calories or something like that and its yummy.
when I want to be bad I go for the parrot bay or malibu and diet sprite. or diet coke w/ lime and jack.

| I like all kinds of alcohol...when Im still trying to be good a gin and seltzer is good (only calories are from the gin). also i recently found a no calorie cosmo mixer which i found kind of surprising...the idea was much better than the taste though, tasted a lot of crystal light with vodka in it :( they have other ones, but im guessing they are probably similar...

I LOVE my beer - and I am a beer snob. But I have been enjoying Michelob Ultra Amber and it makes me feel like I am drinking an Amber with less calories (I am sure it isn't that much less!). I also love Meyers Rum and Diet Coke. I have knocked out sodas (I used to drink diet coke everyday at least twice a day...at least) but I will have an occasional cocktail with it on the weekends. That is the plan - only on the weekends can I enjoy a cocktail...

| Oh, get-out!!! If this wasn't our last week of work for the summer I'd go and get the limeade and vodka and have a blast! I've never heard of that cocktail before but I'll soon have 2-1/2 months to check it out. I just love the sound of it! I don't do Vodka but a lot of my friends to Vodka and grapefruit juice. | Funny, one of my close friends (we graduated from the same university - our mascot is beer) and I go out to eat once every other month and we both said (in April) if we would stop drinking beer we would be Twiggies. Oddly enough we both said at the same time, "ain't happening"! But.... I also believe it has something to do with age because I use to party a lot more than I do now and I was a bone. People use to tell me I need to eat because I was so skinny. Now, that I'm surprised I'm still alive" I figure I have out lived some of my friends, so I can do whatever I want, but the beer is saying "not!". I'm looking for an alternative but I can't handle anything stronger than beer and some wines. Peace.

I'm still waiting for someone to come up with a lower-cal recipe for a margarita. I miss my fresh margs like nobody's business!
Mixed drink tip: anything that can be mixed with tonic (10 calories per ounce, so generally 60 or more calories per drink) can just as easily be mixed with seltzer, which is calorie free.

My favourite? It is bad--Disaronno or Frangelico over ice. Or a mix of both.
My "good" favourite? It's still pretty bad, since any alcoholic beverage is basically empty calories, but it's also red wine. It has health benefits, but if I'm being honest with myself I know that I'd be better off drinking 16 oz. of water.
|
|
|
|
| I like red wine. I can sip 4 oz and it doesn't blow my calories for the day.
|
|
|

Mine is beer, hands down, and it's also the weak point in my nutrition tracker. There really isn't any way to make beer have less calories (light and ultra beers may have a few less, but it's not worth giving up the taste of a good microbrew).
A friend of mine switched to drinking Bacardi and Diet and was able to cut out a lot of calories that way too. Clear liquors tend to have fewer calories than dark ones. I'm not entirely sure why that is, but it seems to be true. Just something to keep in mind.

my favorite is really a margarita....but that has way way too much sugar and calories. plus, i can't drink just one...or two.
so here's what i do: take 4oz. red wine and add 4oz. peach citrus fresca. tastes like sangria! really fruity and lots to drink especially if you use ice in the glass. you can even blend it to make it frothy and add fresh fruit slices. enjoy!

So it's a Friday night and my first thought is: Now that I'm dieting and actually loosing weight what kind of adult beverage can I enjoy without becoming a bloated moo-cow by morning? I decided to stick with Vodka and Cranberry juice. Not very low-cal but I'm watching what I consume and making sure I don't have 1000 cal's worth. Done that before, YUCK!
So what's your favorite low-cal adult beverage? Good Luck Everyone and have a FANTASTIC weekend!!!
