| I love recipes like this that I can put into the fridge and eat off for several days. I bet it just tastes better the longer it sits, too! Thanks!

I use a can of LeSaure young sweet tender peas, drained of course. The salad is best if it cann sit in refrigerator at least 6 hours or overnight tho.

Perhaps frozen peas are used for convience. If you were to use fresh raw peas, they would have to be cooked and cooled, before going into the salad.
Where as frozen raw peas, absorb the liquid from being frozen when they thaw out and they are more consistent to a cooked pea.

Umm....stupid question: Why do you put the peas in frozen? Can you use fresh ones?

7-Layer SaladThis popular make-ahead vegetable salad has layers of lettuce, celery, onion, green pepper, frozen peas, cheese, and salad dressing.Ingredients: • Desired amounts of: • Shredded lettuce • Sliced or chopped celery • Chopped red onion • Chopped green pepper • Frozen peas • Shredded cheese • Low-cal Ranch salad dressing Method: Put the lettuce on the bottom of a clear glass serving bowl. Then add layers of celery, red onions and green peppers. Then add a layer of frozen peas. Add the dressing. Last, add the shredded cheese on top. Refrigerate for several hours. Notes: I use a large plastic Tupperware container approximately 5x9x3-inches, and fat-free cheese and dressing. Its best if it sets a little while before serving to let the peas melt and the dressing soaks to the lettuce on the bottom. It's even better the next day!
Number of servings: (as desired)
