| all of this is new to me. can someone give me some freezer friendly ideas...

| I keep an onging freezer, which means most of the time wahtever i am making that can be frozen i make 2 batches one to eat and the other for another night to come out of the freezer. This works well for hectic days to lay it out that morning after work it is dethawed and ready to heat and serve.

| I have not tried this form of once a month cooking, but I have done 1 and 2 weeks at a time. It saved alot of money but there wasn't much variation from the plan since everything is planned out. That is not always a bad thing. I am going to check out the website for the freezer meals that sounds interesting.

well-I like to cook noodle soups and chop onions in making noodles and fried
potatoes with mushrooms-YUMMY!!

| i tried it years ago and didn't like it. it's not like, you roast a chicken and one night it's chicken, another night it's hash, another night it's a sandwich, etc. they have you make up specific meals, heavy on the meat, which is expensive and it was a loooot of trouble. we found that we did better with simple, fresh meals.

| You also might want to check the Freezer Meals menus at http://www.savingdinner.com -- they are basically pre-assembled, but uncooked meals for the freezer. They've worked well for us. :)

| The book has plans for 2 weeks also. In fact they recommend if it's your first time to do 2 weeks or even one week at first. I think that 2 weeks would last my family of 3 close to 3 weeks.

I have never heard of this once a month cooking. I think it is a fabulous idea. I think I am going to try it. It seems like it will save lots of time and money. Usually when I need a quick meal I will get fast food. But I can just pull my meal out of the freezer and cook it. I might be buying the book...but not sure yet. Would love to hear if anyone has tried this also.
One thing I was thinking is how am I going to fit 30 days worth of food in my little freezer? I have a fridge with the freezer on the top. I think I might have to do 2 week worth of food.

| Has anyone tried doing Once a month cooking? I bought the book and I'm really thinking about doing it. I just think that it would be so nice to know what I'm going to cook every night and have in the freezer waiting for me to pop it in the oven.
