I have two centrifugal juicers and a VitaMix. I like to make carrot/pear juice. I like the idea of adding a piece of ginger, that sounds great! I also like to make "Green Drinks" (a la "Green smoothie Girl") in the VitaMix. If you watch the video on her website, it shows you how. http://www.greensmoothiegirl.com/index.html I like that I can get more servings of fresh (and raw!) fruits and vegetables into my diet this way.

If the greens wilt, I just throw them out. Since we juice almost every day, I've figured out how much to buy in a week, so they really don't have much of a chance to go bad. You probably already know this, but don't wash them until you're ready to use them; they'll keep longer if they stay relatively dry.
I've found that if you don't seal greens in a bag, they'll wilt, and you have to seal them in the right kind of plastic so they won't suffocate and start to rot... Have you tried the breatheable produce bags? They're great for keeping produce fresh. I think there are a few brands out there, the ones I buy are green-colored and are called Evert-Fresh Green Bags. I find them at our local health food store (Chamberlin's) and the grocery store in the produce section. I know you can also find these types of bags on-line. They also come in a couple of different sizes.
You can wash these bags and set them on your kitchen counter to dry out overnight (Just set a glass inside to keep them from collapsing as they dry) and re-use them for months before they wear out. Greens (and other produce) will stay fresh a lot longer if you seal them in one of these bag with a twist-tie. Hope this helps!

I use my juicer quite often. I am partial to carrot with celery and an apple. That looks like a great recipe, I might try it this weekend. To answer the question, I just add 4 carrots, 1 stalk celery and one apple to the food tracker. I cant figure out the difference with the juice either so I add the whole food, better safe then sorry!

I have not tried peach juice, but I have had carrot ginger and it is delicious. Sounds like a great recipe. I think I'll go juice something now. I have noticed that wilted greens will not juice. Have you found anyway around that?

Congrats on buying a juicer! We have juiced almost every day for the last 2 years. The standard juice we make is very healthy, we call it "Green Lemonade". I found the recipe in a book by Natalia Rose (certified nutritionist), The Raw Food detox Diet. She recommends you have at least one glass every day. Try this:
a bag or bunch of spinach (or the equivalent of another dark raw green, we like kale and chard also) Use organic whenever possible a few stalks of celery one apple one lemon (you don't have to peel it if it's organic) a one-inch piece of ginger
This is the basic recipe, and sometimes we vary it by adding or substituting other ingredients. If the apple is small, I often put in a carrot as well. If you're new to juicing greens, use less greens or make it sweeter with another piece of fruit until you get used to it. It took me a few weeks to get used to the green juice, but it is WORTH it! Now I like it, and miss it when we take a day off from juicing. This is actually quite filling and you might not even want anything else for breakfast. And as far as counting the calories, I just log in that I ate the entire piece of produce and don't worry about the rest. The important thing is that you are getting huge health benefits from a new habit.
You are going to LOVE your juicer! If you get tired of cleaning it every day, just think how it's worth it for your health--soon it gets to be just like brushing your teeth; you get used to it as just being part of the morning routine. By the way, have you tried fresh peach juice yet???? You're in for a real treat!

| Can't find anything online for calorie count on veg. juice.

| So, spark recipes can give you calorie counts on things like kale juice? I am not using all the kale and I don't think simple division will work.

|
| I don't juice, but as for the calories, I would add it as a sparkrecipe and then put in the number of servings you expect it will make. That way you get a pretty reliable calorie count and can easily add it to your meal plan.

| I just got my Jack Lelane juicer and I love it. Does anyone else juice. How do you count the calories since you are not eating the whole portion?
