I have heard about, but not yet tried hemp milk. I like to use the hemp seeds in my smoothies and granola because I understand they contain all the essential amino acids and essential fatty acids.
(I wonder if anyone has made it "from scratch" like you can rice, almond, or cashew milk?)
How does hemp milk compare in price to rice or almond milk?

I too used to think that soy milk was a healthier alternative to pasteurized cow's milk. But I have done a lot more reading and now I don't drink soy.
(For one thing, too much soy gives me hot flashes, no thanks!)
I am casein intolerant, which means NO dairy, EVER. I now prefer rice or almond milk if I need to use milk in a recipe or on my cereal.

if you can tolerate soy milk then people like it because it tastes like regular milk but doesn't have the calories.

It is this very reason I can't STAND soy milk of any kind, even non fat. It tastes too much like whole milk which makes me gag.

I've been drinking skim/fat free milk since 1990 so to drink even 1% milk is difficult. soy milk is too "heavy" for me...and it gives my mom hives.

But for people who want to be healthy and not have the calories of whole milk, soy works wonders. :)

I use soy milk because I don't like regular milk and DH has asthma, dairy is bad for him.

It's better if you're lactose intolerant.
