Hebrew National 97% Fat Free beef hotdogs are pretty darn good only 45 cals. They are a little more costly but worth it I think.

I like hot dogs anyway but grilled. They get all burned and taste weird to me. The best ones are at the ball game or from a gridle. YUM!

I guess everyone has different taists. I really love grilled hot-dogs, and if you don't brown them, well, never mind. One should NEVER boil a hot dog if it is to be eaten, lol. If you cook them in a pan that fried hambergers, that's a good flavor. Broiled is good. I greatly dislike sweet relish of any kind, though. And I don't like white bread or buns. But, I am interested in trying the cellery salt idea! It's important to start with a quality product. What kind of 98% fat-free dog did you find?

Hey, not only is it good - it's part of what makes the Chicago Dog so special.

I know how to 'assemble' a Chicago Dog - let me leave that here.

After you cook your dog (use 100% beef for best flavor); usually they 'steam' them, so they're never 'brown' around the edges.

Use the ordinary 'white bun'.

Put mustard on 'each side' of the bun; do this first.
Toss and season with a bit of pepper; light with the salt, and CELERY SALT:

Diced cucumbers
Diced tomatoes
Diced onion
Add sweet relish to this 'mix' - stir it all up.

Lay a layer of this down before you put the dog on it.

Add a slim stick of sliced DILL-GARLIC pickle parallel to the dog that comes next.

Now top it all with more of that tomato, cuke, and onion mixture.

If you want to 'celery salt' the dog also, go easy until you get the 'taste' you really want.

Another trick: Use a seasoning salt like you use to flavor a steak; instead of putting celery seed on the dog, use this. Make certain you use CELERY SEED in the vegetable mixture - this is where it 'lingers' and grabs you.

What's good about this, is you get a few 'veggies' with your dog, and it makes you feel a bit better that you didn't cheat quite so badly (smile). Diane

Add celery salt, then cook as normal. I don't even LIKE hot dogs. I never eat them. But I had one the other day it was INCREDIBLE. I just had to share. Warning though: if you try it once, it will ruin ALL other hot dogs you. Possibly forever.
