| Precisely the reason I had to add things as new foods. When you add a new food, you can determine the measurements for the serving. So if you enter 1 teaspoon = 1 serving when you enter your recipe you can go to your favorites and choose the ingredient and then if you need 1/2tsp then you can mark 1/2 serving in the recipe. I hope that makes sense. It may not work for everything, but it sure helped me a bunch.

| That's what I was having such trouble with. There wasn't one ingredient in the whole recipe that I could find a reasonable measurement for. I was having to convert say a tsp to a fraction of a cup. It just seems that that somehow at least for all the herbs/spices, flours,sweeteners,oils, etc. that everything from an 1/8th tsp up to a cup should be in the drop down menu when you enter the items....

| I don't agree that's all the measurements offered by that site. Sometimes I try to enter a tsp of a spice and only tablespoons are listed! You can't tell me that only a tablespoon is a valid measurement for say cumin?

| This may not be the best way, but if there is something without a good measurement, I enter it as a new food and add it to my favorites. Then when I add it to a recipe, it has what I need.

Hi,
I'm sorry you are so frustrated! Unfortunately some of the items do only have one or two forms of measurements, but using the conversion calculator should help. Most of our items come from the USDA database so we list the same forms of measurements that they list.
You may want to try again and see if it works better for you. I believe it does get easier once you use it a few times and it is nice once you do have it saved.

Hi,
I just tried to enter my first recipe and got so frustrated i finally gave up. I'm vegetarian and make a lot of recipes so it's a little hard finding everything to track my cal each day. I thought if I just started entering recipes I use frequently that would help. However I must be doing something wrong...I can't seem to find any units on ingredients that will work. ie. white flour only shows 1 cup but I need only 1 Tbsp so I went to the converter and it came out to something like .068 of a cup, etc with the other ingredients that are in tsp etc. I was ending up with this recipe that was all .00836 of a Tbsp.etc,etc and for every single item I had to go to the converter and half the time when I came back one of the pages was gone and I had to redo it. Some ingredients weren't listed and when I tried to input them the nutritional info was in IU's and mg not percentages, aaagh!! It can't be this complicated and time consuming, help??
