Yes, you go to your recipe box and along the far right hand side of the screen, there is an "edit" button. You can fix whatever is wrong.

Can you modify a recipe once you have submitted it? I thought I did everything right, but in the end it says there are more calories and fat, etc then when I entered it into the food tracker. I am thinking I must have mistyped something.

Yes, I am putting in 4 servings and it is still coming up that the recipe I am making is almost 700 calories. I think that one of the items in the recipe is being calculated wrong.

You don't have to divide up all the ingredients, but you do need to make sure you tell the calculator how many servings are in the entire recipe. Otherwise, it thinks you are only making one serving. That's why the calorie counts are so high. Put in all the ingredients as you are doing, then, before you hit the "equals" button, change the number in the calculation box from 1 to whatever the number of servings really is.

I have no clue how many onions are in a serving or the spices or the sauce. I'll try to do it on another site and see if it breaks it down......

I think the trick is that you have to divide your recipes up into the number of servings it will create. The calculator thinks your entire loaf of bread or cassarole or whatever is one great big serving. When you do the "calculate" part, make sure to enter the actual number of servings before you click on the "equals" sign.

I am having the same problem with the recipe calculator also. I have input about 5 recipes that I thought were figure friendly and the calorie amount once calculated was absurd. I think something is very wrong with the calculator.

I'm not sure if I'm doing this right, but I took a recipe that my friend made, and I put the ingrediants and amount of each into the recipe builder and it came out with like over 1,000 calories. Is there a trick to this thing?

These are the ingrediants:

Onions, raw, 2 cup, chopped (remove)
Sweet potato, 2 cup, cubes (remove)
Garlic, 3 cloves (remove)
Olive Oil, 3 tbsp (remove)
Tomato Paste, 1 can (6 oz) (remove)
Chili powder, 2 tbsp (remove)
Garlic powder, 1 tsp (remove)
Paprika, 1 tsp (remove)
Salt, 1 dash (remove)
Pepper, black, 1 dash (remove)
Water, tap, 6 fl oz (remove)
Ground Turkey, 1 unit, yield from 1 lb raw

And this is the calorie count:
1 Serving

Amount Per Serving

Calories 1,750.0

Total Fat 88.9 g

saturated fat 17.6 g

Polyunsaturated Fat 16.3 g

Monounsaturated Fat 46.8 g

cholesterol 336.6 mg

sodium 2,053.4 mg

potassium 4,064.7 mg

Total carbohydrate 138.8 g

Dietary fiber 27.8 g

Sugars 22.8 g

protein 108.9 g

I'm having the same problem. It took me a few minutes to even figure out where to go to add a recipe to the site (rather than just marking ones on the site as favorites).

Now I've found that...and all the ingredients I want to add aren't coming up. What's going on? I type in "red onion" and everything on the list is Pizza Hut. When I typed in "cous cous" it came up with curried cous cous. Doesn't it have raw ingredients to add to recipes in the system? I'd love to share my recipes, but not if it means having to enter every single ingredient AND the recipe. Plus, I don't know the nutritional content of a red onion.

BOO! What am I missing, can someone help?

Thanks for the CalorieKing advice. I wasn't aware of them and I love to create my own recipes. Though yesterday's bread could put a dent in the floor if I dropped it. Something went seriously wrong.

BTW - You will make your goal for Halloween! That is super! You're awesome! Keep up your hard work and pray for me; I'm on my way.

Also, Buttermilk Powder is used for richer flavoring and I can also put it in milk and produce buttermilk without buying the real thing.

i do find that spark isn't perfect for having everything listed... but you could either use the next-closest thing (yeast is probably yeast, calorically...) or find the info on another site like calorieking and then transfer it into SP.

i, for one, have never heard of buttermilk powder...

I love to create healthier bread recipes using my bread machine. I was very disappointed when the recipe program could not recognize some of the simplest ingredients. It is as though the person who designed your program either never shopped or never cooked. What is fast acting dry yeast? What is Buttermilk Powder? I used them extensively. I was surprised to find vital wheat gluten in there. It was upsetting though to get all the ingredients in and then not be able to finish the recipe. One more question for you; who puts fattening, sugary, fast foods such as doughnuts into recipes? Yet there they are on the list of ingredients. Too bad, so sad.
