NYX.

Those muffins are great. For breakfast I have 2 with decaf and when I feel hungry I have one for snack also. You can't beat them at 100 cals. They are great!

Oh .. I found a GREAT one!!!

In the Spark People Receipes.. look for

Applesauce Oatmeal Muffins

100 calories and .5 g of fat ... that's right .5!!

These are without a doubt the BEST low fat, low calorie muffin I've ever eaten.

I accidentaly put the cinnamon right in with the dry ingredients (I did not read the recipe through) and I replaced 1/4 cup of white flour for 1/4 cup of the whole wheat, but that's all.

My perfect on-the-run breakfast.

Check it out!

you can completly remove the fat from most recipes by replacing it with pretty much any liquid - other than your nuts and stuff that is which is HEALTHY FAT!! YAY for healthy fat!!I have a couple muffin recipes that are full sized muffins about 100 cals - no added fat, they taste great too, I don't share any flawed attemps :)Sometimes too I look at something and I'm like oh wow that lots, but then I think if I'm replacing a meal with it...that changes it for me, anyways wink never seen the breaky cookies recipe, just saying in general...

No argument that they are better than the Oreo... I was just using it as a fat comparison example. And fat is something that some of us have to watch very carefully.

Just jumped in here. My first time post on this board. Love the Breakfast cookie. Well, in my opinion you could have the oreo cookie instead but do they have any fiber? fiber negates the fat. Fiber, no sugar, low fat is the ticket...but if fat seems high but fiber is also high...you have a minus on the fat. Plus the cookie is healthy whereas, oreo's are loaded with sugar with little or no nutritional value. My thoughts..

I'll let ye know if my latest ideas on this come out well, Nyx. I like the recipe as is, just decided to play with it some more.

For me, fat's not an issue as long as it's the "good" kind (and sometimes the not-so-good kind). For blood sugar control, I don't really believe in eating a too-low fat diet ... but that's just me.

LOL.. well they are superior to an Oreo.. no argument there.. healthier and they taste much better too! It was just the fat content that put me off.

I would not mind the 5g of fat if you could just have one for breakfast, but you'd need at least two or three. If I started off my day with 15g of fat, I'd be in trouble.. LOL

I guess my point was that even the purchased breakfast bars are 1/2 the fat, twice the size and more filling than these are.. I was hoping for a healthier, less fattening alternative.

But if you come up with another version that's just as tasty as these are, please let me know, because I too love the idea!

I saw that breakfast cookie also and also thought it had some input problems, but for me, its 120 cals and 5 g of fat are vastly superior nutritionally to an Oreo. I am going to work on making a version of this recipe. I also think it has a lot more fiber than listed in the analysis ... looks like a keeper to me ... maybe needs some protein powder or something?

But the Joe's Breakfast Cookie listed under it on the site is why I'm posting, as it doesn't seem to have any instructions or ingredients listed.

I'd love to see what Joe's Breakfast Cookies are ... love the idea of breakfast cookies!

I'm new, so I apologize if I'm posting this in the wrong place, but I'm kinda perplexed. And I'm sincerely hoping that someone is going to tell me that I'm wrong!

I am always in a rush in the mornings and eating on the fly.. so I did a breakfast search looking for good healthy, low calorie alternatives that I could make ahead of time.

The "Breakfast Cookie" recipe looked like a good option for me..

Well........

First..... It was obviously one of the recipes that I've been reading about where there were input problems.. there were ingredients listed that were not used in the instructions and the instructions included ingredients that were not listed.... Okay.. I worked around that.

Second..... After they were made, I tried one.. it was pretty good.. not something my kids would eat with carrots and raisins in them, but not bad at all! Success!!

But then..... I read the nutritional value.. YIKES!!
121 calories and over 5g of fat in EVERY serving?? WHAT??? Every cookie?? You're kidding right? An Oreo is only half that! I could have had a whole Blueberry Muffin for the equivalent value!!

I suppose it serves me right for not reading to the end of the recipe first. But I guess I assumed that the recipes would be geared towards those of us who are trying to lose weight!

Now the kids won't eat them and I won't either.. not at 5g per cookie!

Please.. someone tell me that I'm totally wrong!!

Nyx.
