  • I don't have insurance and/or access to a medical provider. Why can't SparkPeople's experts answer my questions?

Members often ask questions about specific medical conditions, injuries or other special cases that require the advice and expertise of a doctor or other qualified health care provider. Because SparkPeople coaches are not doctors, and essentially all medical issues and injuries require in-person examination or testing, along with knowledge of a person's detailed medical history, our staff is not able to give specific medical advice. We generally refer people to see their physician when it would be dangerous for us to speculate about the best course of action.

If you don't have access to medical care, this website offers information about finding help with financial aid for medical treatment in the United States. 

Your state or county health department, as well as social workers at your local hospital, can also provide information about free health resources in your area. This website can help you find free or low-cost medical care in your area.
