See More: giveaway, yoga, holidays,
This week's dailySpark Holiday Giveaway is perfect for the yoga lovers out there--like me! As a gift to myself for completing yoga teacher training, I purchased a new mat. It was just any mat. It was, as my teacher calls it, the Cadillac of mats: a Manduka.

Any longtime yoga practitioner knows how frustrating it is to have your mat fall apart. I went through a couple of mats a year before discovering Manduka mats, which are thicker than the average yoga mat and have a lifetime guarantee. I've had one of their extra long Black Mat PROs and an eQua Mat Towel since June 2009, and they're both in great shape even though I wash the towel several times a week. (Maybe I should buy a second one?)

The folks at Manduka reached out a couple of months ago, and they're kindly giving away a PROlite mat, a mat sleeve, and an eQua Mat Towel to one lucky winner--and MeSheeky is giving away a yoga cover-up to another lucky winner!

PROlite mat: (pictured above) The PROlite yoga mat (formerly known as the PurpleLite Travel Mat) is a fresh alternative for people who need a lighter, zero-waste mat with superior quality and comfort. Like its big brother the Black Mat PRO, the PROlite is all about performance, both in the studio and on the go. Available in five passion-inspiring colors, the PROlite gives you more choices and the same stellar Manduka results. It will enhance your practice and protect our planet. The PROlite has something that no other lighter-weight yoga mat can offer, a Lifetime Guarantee. The Manduka PROlite is built to go everywhere and do everything, just like the people who use it. (A $68 value)

Mat Sleeve: Sleek and surprisingly spacious, the MatWare Mat Sleeve is made of water-resistant recycled fabric. It features a U-shaped zippered flap for quick, easy access to a structured interior that protects the mat and provides proper ventilation. The Mat Sleeve is versatile for overnight and air travel with an external storage pocket for essential yoga accessories and an inside ‘safe’ compartment for your valuables. With custom clips and rings to secure your keys, water bottle and towel, the Mat Sleeve looks great and functions brilliantly. (A $75 value)

eQua Mat Towel: Manduka eQua – a towel for life – is the 'next generation' in multi-purpose towels. Extremely lightweight, yet plush, durable, super-absorbent and quick drying, the eQua microfiber towel outperforms ordinary cotton or polyester towels - on the mat, at the gym, on a mountain, or on the road.

Now thicker and plusher for better absorbency and slip-resistance, the new & improved eQua towel is the perfect companion to all Manduka high performance yoga mats. The eQua Mat Towel spreads over any yoga mat to add traction to sweaty palms and feet. The versatile eQua doubles as a germ-free gym towel to absorb perspiration, as a meditation shawl so you can stay warm during cool sitting sessions, or as a highly absorbent travel or hiking towel which takes up a minimum amount of packing space. Slip-resistant, when moist, this super-soft microfiber towel provides extra grip for sweaty hands and feet. (A $40 value)

In addition, we're giving away a MeSheeky coverup of your choice. They sent me a Stevie skirt in Berry to try, and I wore it after yoga classes. It was nice to have something to put on over my yoga clothes after class. You'll get to choose the variety, size, and color of your choice. (They run true to size; I bought the same size I buy in yoga clothes.)

Have never tried yoga- I have read alot of positive. I have been researching the yoga centers here to see what would be best fit. HArdest thing is to find a class that does not occur when I am working. Not alot of flexability . - 12/22/2010   9:20:14 PM

I have been practicing yoga now for roughly 5 years. I used to refer to pigeon as the roadkill pose, as you had to be dead and/or crushed in order to get into that pose. Now it is one of my favorites, and I can fully extend into the pose.

The ProLite mat would be great as it is longer than my current mat which is 68" long. I am 5'9" and so 68" seemed as though it should have been adequate. Great thing about yoga, I am now flexible enough, that I reach the edges of my mat in my Warrior poses. Want a longer mat, so I continue to stretch. Plus, my current one is fairly worn.

In addition to yoga, I run road races including marathons, compete on both a men's and coed club soccer teams, cycle, weight train, etc. I used to have all kinds of back and knee issues. Due in large part to yoga, I no longer have those issues, and the yoga allows me to participate in all these additional activities.

The eQua towel would be great too as an alternative to the cotton towels that dry and scratch my face.

I used to be one of 2 -3 guys in the yoga classes. Because of my fitness succcesses, and all my encouraging the classes are nearly half guys. - 12/22/2010   2:13:39 PM

I first took yoga classes back in my college days. After that, I included yoga as part of my fitness routine.
Nine years ago I started working at my current job, and it became increasingly difficult to make time for exercise. Thankfully, through SparkPeople, I have rediscovered the joys of exercise.
Unfortunately, I injured myself on the job last year. Soon afterward, I ended up aggravating the herniated disks in my neck by doing the plow.
It is difficult for me to 'take it easy,' but I am learning. I need to start yoga again, but this time I'll be more careful and avoid poses that my body is no longer capable of doing. - 12/21/2010   11:21:19 PM

I've been doing yoga at home about 3 times a week since June. It's really helped with alleviating stress, and giving me more focus and energy. I use a cheap mat from Target, and just wear comfortable clothes (occasionally even my pajamas!). It would be great to have some nice stuff that might motivate me to join a class. - 12/21/2010   9:36:05 AM

I am very arthritic and I have been considering Yoga, just the physical part, as an alternative to other exercises, the proper equipment would definitely make me more apt to use it, I rely on prayer to Jehovah, Jesus Christ, so He speaks in many small voices. - 12/21/2010   6:58:29 AM

Thanks so much for this post... I am relatively new to yoga and didn't know where to look for a good mat - I'll wait to see if I win... if not, I'm going to their site to purchase - my knees are asking for a thicker mat :0 - 12/21/2010   5:05:32 AM

OMG!! I have to win this! I am taking hot yoga classes at least 7-10 times per week and while I have multiple pants and tops, I still only have one mat and it is definitely showing wear. Also I need some tips on keeping it sanitary as I drip sweat over it (can not avoid this with hot yoga) and I'm sure it can't go in the washing machine! I LOVE Yoga - it is time for the Cadillac (but not something I want to indulge myself with this Christmas season while in giving mode). Please, please, please, let me be lucky!!! - 12/21/2010   12:39:25 AM
