Stacks of boxes sit behind my desk most days. What's in them? Foods, usually snack foods. Sometimes we ask companies to send us these foods, and sometimes they send them out of the blue.

Sometimes we get sent foods that are little odd. Those never make it onto the blog. (Some of you have asked why we never do "bad" or negative reviews. It's because we like to be positive and share with you foods you want to eat. We only review products that our tasters would eat again.)

Other times, the surprises that land on my desk knock our socks off! And this is one of those cases.

A few weeks ago, the Sahale Cashews with Pomegranates and Vanilla were delivered to my desk. They were gone in no time flat!

What They Say:
"We think we've found a perfect combination of sublime flavors: pomegranate, vanilla and cashews. Our whole roasted cashews are teamed with pomegranate and apple, and balanced with pure vanilla bean. Our light glaze adds just the right amount of sweetness."

What We Say:
OK, so really only one person tried these cashews. She liked them so much that she ate almost the entire bag (over the course of several days). Here's what our Sahale addict had to say:

"Warning: These are so delicious that I had trouble stopping myself from eating the whole bag! One of the best tasting snacks I have had in a very long time! I loved the vanilla flavor and the mild sweetness. I especially loved that I recognized all the ingredients on the label as pretty natural. These seem comparable in nutrition to other roasted nuts, too, but they taste gourmet and decadent. I think these would be perfect as finger food at a dinner party or gathering--they'd definitely keep people happy while waiting for the main course, and that'd help prevent you from eating the whole bag yourself!"

We also tried the Almond PB&J with Peanuts and Berries and the Almonds with Cranberries, Honey and Sea Salt. They were also REALLY good, but the cashews outshined them. I like crushing up the nuts and eating them on top of oatmeal--yum!

I eat these all the time. I almost always have a bag of one of their flavors in my cupboard; they even sell them at the snack bar of my favorite movie theater. They are SO addictive. The lemongrass chili pistachios are amazing in salads, and my favorite are the orange blossom almonds. Or the cashews. YUM. - 7/13/2011   2:48:36 PM

I have never heard of them--they sound dangerous to my diet, I wouldn't be able to stop at one serving :-0 - 12/23/2009   3:05:30 PM

I have not tried these but they maybe hard to limit to a few nuts. I love pistachios and macadmias. - 10/4/2009   10:40:34 PM

i got a sample at whole foods and i would definitely eat them again. i saw them at wal-mart and the price was a little high but they are dangerous for me because i would not have self control. i will buy some to take with me on vacation next month however. the pom van cashews were wonderful! - 9/17/2009   2:18:13 PM

I doubt it... They sound great, but I'm a PICKY nut eater, and I only snack on peanuts and pistachios... - 9/10/2009   10:16:51 PM

Oh I want some. I wish I could buy them but I can't seam to find them anywhere. I think I would have trouble controlling portions however. - 9/7/2009   10:40:35 PM

They sound delicious. They are not sold in my area. If I do see them sometime I would like to try them. - 9/7/2009   1:43:44 PM

These sound lovely, but at the price, I think I would have to either pass on them or mix them with my regular almonds, walnuts, and cranberry snack mix to make them stretch. - 9/7/2009   12:39:48 PM

No but it sound like it could be pretty good. - 9/7/2009   12:14:17 PM

Sounds yummy and sugar is pretty low at 6 grams but for me it would be the start of a disaster. I have a sweet tooth and I'm afraid I wouldn't be able to stop at 1 serving. I'll stick to my raw almonds. - 9/7/2009   1:54:35 AM

My order of favorite nuts are cashews, almonds and then pinenuts. For some strange reason eating more than a 1/4 cup of cashews or machadamia make me queasy. I'm not sure if it is fat level or something else, but it has always slowed me down for eating these nuts. - 9/6/2009   10:16:01 PM

They sound great and I'd love to try them, but there isn't a store that carries them that I consider convenient to me: not in my neighborhood where I can walk or bike to get them. - 9/6/2009   5:31:14 PM

    Sounds good. - 9/6/2009   1:07:48 PM

These sound very good, my problem would be sticking to only one serving. - 9/6/2009   11:03:50 AM

these and the walnut snack by Sahale are my weak points. I can no longer buy them because I cannot resist to get just "one more bite"...... they are delicious but if you go over 1/4 cup, you just spoiled your day and that is my problem...... - 9/5/2009   10:49:28 AM

Glad to see others had the same reaction as I did: sounds yummy but way too expensive! Who can afford this as a snack? It's more dear than meat at $21.16 a pound! And far too many calories for 1/4 C. Sorry, this is a pass for me. - 9/5/2009   9:03:25 AM

I love cashews, so when I saw these, I bought them.
I was very disapointed. The pomegranate was very tough, tasteless and hard (like stale gumdrops), taking away all the crunch of the cashews. The hint of vanilla was nice, but I would not buy them again, and probably would not waste my $ to try the other flavors.
If you like the crunch of a good nut, don't bother with these. - 9/4/2009   8:06:04 AM

These are great--wish they had more in the bag though--I had to stop myself from eating the whole bag - 9/4/2009   7:27:28 AM

Oh oh! I *love* the pecans with cranberries, black pepper and orange zest! They're absolutely wonderful! I have to be careful and measure out a portion. Otherwise I'd eat the whole bag. I eat nuts every day, and am happy to have a snack that is also good for me. - 9/4/2009   7:24:08 AM

I will be staying away from the high-cal snacks like this. I eat 1 oz. of nuts every day, and that is enough for me. I love raw almonds, raw cashews, and raw walnuts for a snack. - 9/3/2009   9:46:50 AM

The Sahale link worked great for locating these in our local Shopko. I will be stopping today after work. I am a nuts-of-any-kind addict and these sound really special. Thank you for sharing a snack with healthy fats.....I will attempt not to eat too many. Think I will start with the individual size packs if they have them : ). - 9/3/2009   9:28:36 AM
