Golly, what a week this has been! Last week, I was in New York with The Slowest Loser to promote the book and tape my national TV debut, and this week--wow, are people noticing that we wrote a cookbook (a pretty darn good one)!

Before I share with you all the praise we've received, I want to thank each and every one of you who has bought "The SparkPeople Cookbook: Love Your Food, Lose the Weight" already.

What a fun time I had in New York! With the help of food stylist Nicki Sizemore (it's hard to do your own cooking when you're staying in a hotel!), we prepped Three Cheese Macaroni for the folks at Better TV--and it was a hit. Watch my clip from the show, which aired on Tuesday!

On Wednesday, The Cincinnati Enquirer ran an excellent story on the cookbook, with a can't-beat-it headline: SparkPeople book instant hit. A preview of the story was on A1, with a huge photo of Stepfanie and me on the cover of the food section, three recipes--and a great story that featured successful member Tara (HALLELUL). Even better, the online version had six photos! (Click here to read the story) All mentions of the cookbook are fun to see, but it's even neater to see an article on the book in the newspaper you read every morning (and the one where Stepfanie worked before coming to SparkPeople).

There's more--and you can win a copy of the cookbook, too!

Thanks to your support and all these great mentions, we have been the #1 cookbook on Amazon.com and a "best seller" on other websites as well.

The work isn't over yet! We have to keep spreading the Spark--and we need your help. Keep us on top of the list so we can keep spreading our healthy message. A $27.95 value, the book is only $16.36 right now! (Buy two or spend $25 at Amazon.com and get free shipping, too.)

This is one of the most important ways you can help us Spread the Spark. The site you know and love will continue to be 100% free, but we think this cookbook will help you take your program to a new level. You'll ditch the diet and lose weight--while eating food you love!

Order "The SparkPeople Cookbook" today and get 500 SparkPoints plus bonus recipe cards and a kitchen chart pack available only to those who buy the book.

In addition, you can help us Spread the Spark by:

Wow!!! Is this a cookbook or an entire reteach of healthy eating and living well??? Both. I pre-ordered mine on Amazon and it arrived shortly after. This book has been coming to bed with me as I read all the critical info that comes before the first recipe even starts. I have been so excited about this I had to go out and "restock" my kitchen, I now have things like a waffle iron and flaxseeds (never even looked at those before!!) I have already tried a couple of the recipes and my family loves them!!! (Spicy Turkey Mini Meatloaves being a GREAT hit). I have been spreading the spark, all the way to Canada and England!! to get family and friends to buy it.
I can go on and on but this is enough, I LOVE this book and would continue to promote the site and book.
PS. I once sent out mass email to all my friends and families when I discovered sparkpeople, swearing by it and wanting them to "Just visit the site". Well, all of them, except one, deleted it, thinking it was spam!!!! I guess I was tooooooo excited!! - 10/20/2011   1:31:37 AM

I pre-ordered my copy from Amazon and it was delivered within days of being available. It is a wonderful compilation of the many great recipes made available from SparkPeople, but the added information regarding cooking techniques, pantry supplies, nutrition information etc. makes this purchase worth more than the price I paid. I'll be referring to this cookbook often! - 10/19/2011   8:03:07 PM

Thank you so much for your participation in the Sparkpeople Cookbook. It really is a Kitchen Bible. I love all of the information and tips. Also, I'm a pretty simple cook and I don't like spending much time in the kitchen, all of the recipes in here look very appealing without being too fancy and fussy. I would fix every one of them. They look delicious w/out a ton of ingredients and time. - 10/18/2011   8:22:51 AM

Question...how do we get one of the recipes from the book into our meal planner? Do we have to enter the whole thing manually through the Recipe Calculator? - 10/15/2011   9:39:29 AM

I got my book yesterday and everything looks so delicious. I haven't had a chance to try anything yet, but I'm sure it won't be long before I do. There are also some terrific tips in the book. This cookbook may even make me enjoy cooking! - 10/14/2011   3:55:45 PM

It is such a great deal and I have had most of my family buy it. Probably because my story is in it! But I'm thoroughly impressed by the whole thing. It is so packed full of great info and recipes. Thank you so much for creating such an awesome cookbook. - 10/14/2011   3:09:58 PM

Just last night I donated one copy to my local library - of which I am a board member. As I handed them the book and said it is to be placed in memory of my mom because both her daughters are in it - they looked and asked - I happily said turn to page 66. Last night I got my first autograph request. Hopefully, people will see it in the library and then go and purchase it. How often can you get a book that has a feature about a local woman???
Got the other one that I ordered earmarked for another group of people I've dealt with - now I'm going to have to order more to give as gifts.

I bought the cookbook for the same reason I bought the original "Spark" book...
I stumbled upon SP while looking for a calorie counting app on my phone, I was amazed at how many foods were preloaded- it made it SO EASY to use. Then on the website, there were so many articles, recipes, exercises, and videos- just a wealth of GOOD information. Then I found Spark Groups and Spark Friends. Then I saw there was a book, and I was like "must have!" Now that you have a cookbook, I said again, "must have!"
It's not that I would buy anything with a SP logo, but I think you have done a really good job of making a quality "product" with your website, that I don't have to wait for a review or for a friend to buy it first, I KNOW your books are going to be helpful and worth the money to buy without having to wait for the experts to tell me it's #1.
I also feel (even at full list price) it's a small price to pay for all that you have done for me. And if having a #1 book gets you on more tv shows and more exposure and gets more people involved in the website and being healthy, it really makes the whole world a little better place to be. - 10/14/2011   11:17:05 AM

My cookbook came yesterday and this morning Slow-Cooker Rosemary Chicken Breasts (p. 183) is in the crock pot as I am writing this. I picked this recipe b/c I had every single one of the ingredients already--even all of the ingredients for both Make it a Meal options. Couldn't be more convenient! - 10/14/2011   10:41:32 AM

My copy shipped yesterday! I decided that buying the book was in the end cheaper than repeatedly printing recipes off SparkRecipes. - 10/14/2011   10:13:35 AM

Mine just arrived. Haven't had a chance to try any receipes yet. Pg 122-123 The Cucumber-melon cups with mint dressing will be my first choice of recipe to make. It looks good. This book recipe looks/sounds nicer than the one on Spark People recipes. - 10/14/2011   9:39:47 AM

$16.36? Waaah! I went out as soon as B&N opened on October 4th and paid the full price! I was evidently the first one at our B&N, since they didn't have it on the shelves yet and had to go looking for it. Luckily, they found it, and I proudly marched out with my copy. But I hate to pay full price for anything!
Oh, well, it's worth it. I even found out I like salmon, because of the SP cookbook, which I never did before. - 10/13/2011   9:07:31 PM

I think two of my co-workers have purchase the book and hopefully another will soon be purchasing it. I saw a borrowed copy in her office. This evening is my 4th time making the Baked Chicken Tenders recipe in the last few days. I just love it and it's so easy. I smiled at those ready made coating mixes know I'll never have to purchase them again! - 10/13/2011   8:43:34 PM
