Does your breakfast change with the seasons? In the summertime, I'm a cold cereal or a almond butter-and-banana toast kind of gal, but as soon as the temperature drops, I eat oatmeal every morning.

Topped with a handful of chopped nuts (almonds, pecans or walnuts), some dried cranberries or raisins, a bit of ground flax seed and a teaspoon of cinnamon, this hearty breakfast keeps me going until lunch.

What's your favorite healthy breakfast in wintertime?

Are you an oatmeal fan, like I am? Are you partial to pancakes and waffles? What about eggs? What's your go-to breakfast? Share your favorite start-the-day meal.

I mix it up a bit with cold cereal (like Raisin Bran and GrapeNuts), toast, and oatmeal. Of those, oatmeal is my ultimate favorite... I usually some unsweetened dried fruit (ex. apples, peaches, cranberries, blueberries) and skim milk in it and use honey to sweeten (.5 tbsp for 1 cup uncooked oats) it. Yum! - 12/23/2008   6:11:08 PM

In the warm months, I eat whole grain Cherrios with 2% milk and in the colder months I eat oatmeal and 1 slice of wheat toast. I don't add sugar to either breakfast........I don't like sweets for breakfast.......Yuck! - 12/14/2008   7:02:35 PM

I'm kinda' a SEASONAL girl so I prefer HOT breakfasts (oatmeal, cream of wheat, egg on toast, Canadian bacon, or even a scrambled egg with hot sauce on a wheat tortilla... etc.) for autumns and winters. THEN... grapefruits, berries (with low fat whipped topping) yogurts, and COLD cereals call to me in the springs and summers. - 12/11/2008   1:17:17 PM

I always split my breakfast (part before work, then the other part as a morning snack):

1 or 2 eggs (depending on whether I'm lifting weights that day) cooked in a nonstick skillet and served on top of toast made with homemade wheat bread.

Morning snack: 1/4 c. dry oatbran, 2 T milk powder (dry milk), 1 or 2 t brown or maple sugar, dash salt, all cooked in the microwave with a little over 1/2 c. water. Much more volume than regular oatmeal for the same number of calories. At home I make this with 1/2 c. milk and don't bother with the milk powder, but at work, it's easier to just put in the dry milk and cook the whole thing up with water. - 12/8/2008   12:37:47 PM

I love french toast with 40 calorie wheat bread. Mix egg beaters w/a little sweet and low, 1/3 cup milk. sprinkle some cinnamon on after dipping the batter. I cut the bread up in strips cook with pam, then I pour the surgar free syrup into a 1/4 cup and dip. I use less syrup this way instead of pouring directly onto the toast. - 12/8/2008   12:28:37 PM

In the winter, oatmeal is great. When it's warm I like Fiber One mixed into a Weight Watchers or a Yoplait light yogurt. If I'm feeling decadent I'll add some berries or an apple. - 12/6/2008   4:34:27 PM

I mix it up. I like oatmeal ("real"/McCann's) and I put a miniature box of raisins in it and use a lot of my Lactaid skim milk with added calcium to both heat it with then add to it afterwards to make it the consistency I like.

But my husband generally eats eggs everyday so occasionally I let him make me eggs. Today I asked him to make us French toast with the raisin bread I bought that I didn't like as raising bread and then threw out the rest (I don't eat anything I don't like when there's so much I do like!), I'll do a search of other stores' bakeries and try their raisin bread, see if I can find some better I like. But sometimes I just like toast and a piece of fruit with my coffee; I drink only 2/3 cup coffee and 1/3 cup my skim milk so get lots of protein with the milk. What I'm planning for dinner determines what I have for lunch; I am having a salad with dinner this evening so had popcorn for lunch just now :-) - 12/6/2008   2:24:26 PM

i found this great recipe for eggs and lox. instead of using smoked salmon, I pan seared a 4oz piece of fresh salmon, marinated in teriyaki sauce. So good. ;o) - 12/6/2008   1:26:53 PM

I miss my big bowl of cereal! Now that I am eating lower carb I eat egg muffins most mornings. I have been eating Applesauce Pumpkin & Craisin Muffins lately so that helps. One muffin and a cup of coffee with equal and 2 tbs. fat free half and half gets me from 7 am to about 11 or 12. - 12/6/2008   10:20:55 AM

I love oats with a banana. If I eat the oats alone it does not get me through to lunch but with the added banana it does and I use less sugar too! - 12/6/2008   9:16:56 AM

oat meal, seasoned asian style with chilie, sesame and soy. or eggs from the girls in the backyard and whole grain bread or brown rice. Or the left overs from last nights dinner.

I like savory for breakfast and try to eat like a king in the morning, a tradesman at lunch and a pauper in the evening. - 12/6/2008   4:27:51 AM

I love my oatmeal in the morning. I use oat bran and ground flax and make it with almond milk. I add in my fruit of the day. Lately it's the leftover cranberry relish I make. (fresh cranberries with apples, oranges and lemon, sprinkled with a bit of ground clove and cinnamon) mmmm yummy. - 12/5/2008   6:38:00 PM

It is funny but, unlike other people, I never find that oatmeal carries me through to the noon meal. I always end up eating other stuff to make up for the empty feeling I get. Even the full oatmeal (not the instant kind, which is rather high glycemic) doesn't work for me. So I don't use it.

But what I love is vegetable omelet. That holds me nicely & is very satisfying. I also make vegetable quiche cups to go, eat yogurt with Ezekiel cereal on top, and berries. - 12/5/2008   6:10:15 PM

I must be the only one on here who doesnt like oatmeal! I cant get past the texture. The weather doesnt affect my breakfast, I like 2 Eggo Light Wheat Waffles with splenda and cinnamon and a banana or Fiber 1 cereal w/ 1/2 c ff milk and fruit or Fiber 1 cereal w/ Fiber 1 vanilla yogurt, mixed together and a banana. Sometimes I'll eat a Fiber 1 bar and fruit. Love my Fiber 1, cant ya tell. I guess it just depends on my mood. - 12/5/2008   2:16:44 PM

I love oatmeal on a cold morning (usually with some fruit). If I am really hungry I scramble a couple of egg whites or have some yogurt. Someone else mentioned the Frosted Mini Wheats with warm milk....I saw that commercial too and it does sound delicious! Will try that one of these days. - 12/5/2008   7:14:24 AM
