Our 10 Favorite DVD Reviews

Last week, when the temperature dipped into the single digits and the snow piled up outside, there was no way I was heading outside for some cardio. Instead of skipping my workout, I reached for one of the many workout DVDs we have here at SparkPeople: Work Out One-on-One Training with Jackie.

I rarely do workout DVDs and instead rely on yoga and running for the bulk of my workouts. This reminded me what a great option they are, especially when you can't go outside.

I searched the blog for 10 of our favorite DVD reviews. Maybe you'll find a new workout to shake up your routine!

I got Workout one on one with Jackie through Netflix to try...& tried the upper & lower workouts this morning!! LOVE IT!. Still have to do the core. Will by adding this to my library! Also love Turbo Jam & Leslie Sansone's walking workouts. Report
Jillian Michael's NMTZ and Chalene Johnson's Turbo Jam are my absolute favorites! Any of Leslie Sansone's walking DVDs are also great for when the weather's nasty and you don't feel like walking outside. Report

I have like most of the biggest loser series of workout dvds. Crunch fitness also puts out some good fitness dvd too. If you don't want to buy workout dvds you can always check out your local library. Report
I have done the Jillian Michaels no more trouble zones and while I am not the hugest fan of hers it was a good dvd. You are toning muscles but what I really liked is she moves quickly into the next move so your heart stays up and are burning fat. Oh, and you will be sore the next day Report
I LOVE Karen Voight's workouts, everything from her "Strong and Smooth" low impact cardio/strength training workout (65 minutes), to her "Core Essentials" workout (Yoga/Pilates/Conditioning). The videos are engaging and efficient for the time invested, and her approach is low key and professional (as opposed to someone "yelling" at you like a relentless drill sergeant or "cheering" you on like an annoying pep leader). The Biggest Loser Power Walk with Bob is a great DVD. Report

I have all Bob Harper's Inside out Method and they are fabulous...there are two choices of workouts for every dvd...I sometimes do the short version of all three in one day..awesome workouts! Report
I haven't tried any of these however Leslie Sansone is my personal favorite. I do have her dvd's. Report
Biggest loser cardio max. Report
I have only 2 dvds, Leslie Sansone Walk Away the Pounds 30 minute Walk (2 miles), and Jillian Michaels' 30 Day Shred. Love them both but I found after Jillian I am left sore, and I found it is because there isn't enough of a cool down, so I jump on my elliptical trainer afterward, and feel awesome the next day. Favorite workout dvd is Leslie Sansones Walk Away the Pounds 4mile walk. Fun! Also love Core Rhythms. Report
I like Coach Nicole The spark,10Min .cardio work outs I'll do one at arround 7am .them I'll do10min.more arround 12pm ,Then I'll do one10min. arround 3pm then one arround 8pm that way I don't have to do them all at one time.It breaks up a boring day.I also like Richard Simmons Sweatin to The Oldies .I'll use that one for another day. My favorite DVD is TurboJam by Beachbody. Fast paced and great music I really do forget I am working out! Report
WooHoo - I love Jillian Michael 's No More Trouble Zones - It is my go to dvd - when can I not spare 40 minutes to get a fantastic overall circuit workout with great results - (can increase the weights too). Currently doing P90X and surprised to not find it listed here? Report
I use the Leslie Sansone Walk at Home 5 Day Slim Down and Beach Body Turbo Jam. I have the Debbie Sieber's Slim in 6; but I haven't tried it yet. Report
I have the Zumba dvd's which I love! They have been my main mode of exercise for about 2.5 weeks now. They are fun, energetic and really make me sweat. Plus, I generally look forward to them... at least I do once I get started ;)
I also have Jillian Michaels 30 Day Shred, but have not used it in quite a while. I will have to pop that one in soon. I also own Turbo Jam, but my favorite disk is scratched and will need a replacement or find a way to fix it. Report

I like Jackie Warner because she encourages proper form when strength training. No More Trouble Zones is a tough one. For serious intensity, try anything by Cathe Friedrich (but proceed with caution b/c she creates advanced workouts). Happy exercising! Report
I love to workout with the Jane Fonda Primetime Walkout Levels 1 & 2. It takes about 45 minutes and works up a sweat. Love her valuable comments. I have Biggest Loser Cardio Max, but haven't done it yet. I appreciated those who have commented about it. I also have the Richard Simmons "Sweatin' to the Oldies" DVD-60's music. The comments here have inspired me to get that one out and add it to my workout. Let go workout!!! Report
I have Fit, Firm, and Fired up and I love it. Others that I use and love are Tae Bo with Billy Blanks w/ amplifier, The Firm, and I have Biggest Loser Cardio Max and those three workouts are awesome. Report
I love the BL Cardio Max DVD. It's great since you can pick which level you want. It's great since it ranges from 10 to 40 minutes workouts depending on your time. Report
I have several of Leslie Sansone videos. I like all of them. I also use wii for variety and Netflix has some good videos. Report

I love Weight Loss Yoga w/ Bob!!! It makes me feel the burn, but at the end of the workout after cool down I feel like I just got a full body massage. It's SO relaxing. Report
Awesome service to Spark members, reviewing these. I love Coach Nicoles fitness one. Her voice, maturity, intelligence and knowledge of subject come through in a way to reach and help her audience. Report
Don't laugh, but I absolutely love Richard Simmons' Party Off the Pounds. This one has songs from the 80s. Report

I use the Richard Simmons dancing tapes - I have the "Dancing to the Oldies" a disco one and a toning one - I love them and so far have lost 21 pounds dancing lol. Report
I use Leslie Sansone DVDs almost daily; I have Walk 'n'Jog, Walk 'n' Kick, and her entire set w/resistance bands, going from 1 to 4 miles. They are a bit monotonous, but, especially when I do the 4-mile (including 2 rounds of resistance band circuit training), I sweat like a pig and do some major calorie damage! I'm looking into getting Turbo Jam, though; her little bit of kickboxing has got me wanting more o' dat! Report
I bought #2 after it was reviewed here in October. I love it! I have other Leslie dvds, not the one shown here. I also have the BL BootCamp dvd. I think the key is to keep switching them up! Report
I have tried #9 and #10 and can recommend them. Jillian's trouble spot DVD left me sore even though I've been working out. Report
I don't work out to DVD workouts, but Jackie's Personal Training one looks scary; I think I'll try it. Report

I pretty much only use fitness DVDs for my workouts, so I KNOW they're great for getting in shape (especially Jillian's!), and they're more affordable than a gym membership or classes, and there's NEVER an excuse to miss your workout (like bad weather).

I have also rediscovered Kathy Smith - she's got a ton of DVDs out there with alot of variety.

I adore anything by Jillian Michaels! She is my go-to girl for weight training/cardio combos. I hav a home gym w/ an elliptical for wintry weather but tend to do my cardio walking outside in the warmer weather. ALWAYS looking for good dvds - thanks for the post! Report

Own Jillian Michalel's NMTZ and also Leslie Sansone's Walk your Belly Flat. Love them BOTH!!! Both fabulous workouts. Leslie really makes me sweat, but her workouts are easy to follow and FUN! Jillian kicks your butt with NMTZ but it is worth it. Highly recommend both! Report
