Here at the dailySpark, we're big fans of breakfast. Not just any breakfast will do. We want a healthy breakfast to start the day. So when I met the kind folks at Attune Foods in San Francisco last fall, I was excited to learn more about their brands, especially Uncle Sam cereal.

The whole wheat and flaxseed cereal, which has been around for more than 100 years, is healthy and full of fiber. After trying all the tasty Uncle Sam cereals for ourselves, we asked to host a giveaway so you could try them for yourselves.

This is my first time hearing of Uncle Sam's Cereals but I would love to try them. I enjoy my cereal crispy and I also use soy milk. - 1/12/2011   9:52:14 AM

I've never tried Uncle Sam cereal but it sounds like something I would like and healthy too!

I love my cereal crunchy, once it's soggy (except for frosted mini wheats) I can't even think about eating it. - 1/12/2011   9:46:53 AM

This cereal is really delicious - and there's a recipe for muffins on the box; they are wonderful, and freeze well, too. - 1/12/2011   9:46:14 AM

I had never heard of or seen this cereal until I read this blog. I will have to look for it next time I shop. My current go-to cereals are Fiber One and Puffins -- I mix a half-cup of each with some berries and skim milk most mornings for breakfast. I like my cereal to stay crunchy and these two fit the bill. - 1/12/2011   9:37:26 AM

Wow, I've never seen this cereal. I have a trip to Wal-Mart this afternoon so I'm definately going to look for it!!! - 1/12/2011   9:28:19 AM

It depends on the cereal whether I like it crunchy or mushy. Cheerios should never be mushy, for instance. But granola that's soaked for a bit and become less crunchy, that's just great. Oatmeal with its porridge creaminess, oh yeah! Each one is different. The variety of textures as the bowl changes from freshly poured to the last spoon is part of the fun of eating cereal too. I like that effect with bran flakes. - 1/12/2011   9:07:20 AM

Since I have to be on a gluten-free diet, it does not appear this brand is conducive to my consumption. I clicked on the link and found even their instant "oatmeal" had wheat in it!! - 1/12/2011   7:33:09 AM

Never heard of them, I don't go down the ceral isle too often though. I usually stick with my homemade muffins, but I do eat ceral from time to time and keep it in my pantry for a quick meal! - 1/12/2011   7:27:30 AM

I like my cereal crisp & crunchy but my husband likes to let his set until it is soggy (and looks horrible to me).

I have loved this cereal for 50 years. Whenever I see it in the store I picked up a box or two. I was introduced to the Uncle Sam's brand as a youngster and I still love it. Great stuff that's good for you. - 1/12/2011   1:16:30 AM

I like this, especially when mixed with raisin bran. It must be crunchy! I find it at WalMart near the Kashi cold cereals, but have only found the "original" (plain?) flavor. - 1/12/2011   12:56:14 AM

I love Uncle Sam cereal. I am excited that there are two new flavors also. I just have to be careful about the serving size. This cereal has flax seed which gives it laxative properties. A little goes a long ways. - 1/11/2011   11:11:13 PM

I mix my Cheerios with a little bit of Crunch - I like the crunch...Altho sometimes I pore the milk on and then get distracted and when I get back to my cereal it's starting to soften up! But I like crunch. I have never heard of Uncle Sam Cereal - Sounds good tho! - 1/11/2011   9:09:34 PM

I have never heard of Uncle Sam cereal, let alone eaten it. But I'd give it a try if I find it. I hate soggy cereal, and definately prefer crunchy, except for oatmeal. But even then, I like the Old-Fashion Oatmeal versus the Quick style. I've been having it every morning for breakfast for a year, which has greatly helped reduce my cholesterol count! - 1/11/2011   8:07:56 PM

Never heard of or tried Uncle Sam cereals. I like my cereals a bit on the soggy side - just enough where you have some crunch but not a lot. - 1/11/2011   7:58:24 PM

It depends on the cereal. Life, Cheerios, and Frosted Flakes... I must have cripsy. For some reason I love when Chex and Frosted Mini Wheats get soggy!

I'd love to try these cereals! - 1/11/2011   7:46:49 PM

I like crunchy cereal much better than soggy. I do like natural foods without added sugars and get made fun of at work for the things I eat but I have to tell you I did not like Uncle Sam cereal. It took everything I had to finish my box because I didn't want to waste food. - 1/11/2011   7:31:11 PM
