Ooh, sorry I missed this one! It's my husband's favorite cereal. As healthy as it it, however, it's too much carbs for me with brittle Type 1.5 LADA Diabetes. - 6/12/2011   4:07:54 PM

Never heard of it, but I'll keep an eye out. I confess I like cereal soggy, or, I prefer to think, moist & "comfort-food-ish". Some of the "crunchy" ones remind me of things I used to feed my horse. :-) - 1/19/2011   3:38:01 PM

I've seen this cereal for years, but never bought it. I enjoy Cream of Wheat though, and also like crispy dry cereal, just depends on the mood at the time. Willing to try anything with flaxseed and flaxmeal, love the stuff, helps the weight to slide off. - 1/14/2011   9:25:33 PM

Yum! I love Uncle Sam! I have been eating this delicious cereal since I was a kid, although for a few years I couldn't find it very easily. Trader Joe's has it now, at a good price! For those who haven't tried it, this stuff is great. It is heartier and more filling than many other cereals, while still being packed with good nutrition. As for the crispy vs soggy preference, I actually like both, and this cereal is particularly good for this: I add a good amount of milk, start eating right away to enjoy the crispy goodness, and as it gets soggy I'm lovin' that too! Yum! It's 6pm and I am craving some now! :) - 1/13/2011   9:21:12 PM

This is very good cereal. I don't like milk or soggy cereal, so I pour the milk on and immediately drain it off. It's also good in yogurt. - 1/12/2011   6:36:02 PM

I have been eating Uncle Sam since I was a kid. Love those flax seeds, in fact I usually add an additional tablespoon to my serving. I am still eating it, and buy it at Trader Joes for $2.99 a box...a real bargain in the cereal world. I have seen it at other stores, though usually priced $1+ more. Just add a little non-fat milk and some berries (raspberries are my personal favorite, but blackberries or blueberries are great, too). Enjoy - 1/12/2011   3:13:50 PM

I prefer my cereal crunchy. I don't eat fast enough to be able to add milk before it goes soggy so I always eat my cereals dry. My current fav cereal is the Kashi Go Lean crisp. I have seen Uncle Sam cereal in the store so perhaps when I am out of Kashi I will try some. It does sound good too - 1/12/2011   1:00:31 PM

First of all, in answer to the question, I like my cereal crunchy and satisfying, not soggy.

I have never tried or even noticed this brand on store shelves but I will definitely be looking for it next time I go grocery shopping, it sounds great! Thanks Sparkpeople - 1/12/2011   12:32:45 PM

Crispy! I use maybe 2 tablespoons of milk for one cup of cereal. I can't stand soggy bread of ANY kind and that definitely includes cereal. - 1/12/2011   11:56:34 AM

I am a crunchy fan, so I have to eat my cereal as soon as possibly after the milk touches it. - 1/12/2011   11:28:05 AM

Used to be one of the few ways to get flax seed in an ordinary, middle of the road grocery. Hope they are thriving despite the competition they now have. - 1/12/2011   10:54:50 AM

I've seen Uncle Sam products in Whole Foods, but never thought to buy a box because they were a little on the pricey side. Since Whole Foods sells them, I figured they must be a good product. I'll have to try a box some time.

Also, I do prefer crunchy cereal. hate soggy. - 1/12/2011   10:45:08 AM

I have this cereal in my cabinet at home right now. I love it. I mix it in my Greek yogurt in the morning.

From a child to a young adult all I ate was dry cereal. I hated soggy cereal and would have never add milk to my bowl, but a couple of years ago I tried it and now sometimes I do use milk, but only a little so that the cereal will not get too soggy. - 1/12/2011   10:33:37 AM

I've never seen this cereal brand.

And depending on the cereal, I might like it crispy or soggy. I like flakes and circles crispy. But my fave, shredded wheat (the real kind) needs to be soggy. Same with Grape Nuts - soggy, and with raisins added. Yum! - 1/12/2011   10:31:58 AM

The only variety of Uncle Sam cereal I've tried is the "regular whole-wheat flakes and flaxseed"--and I enjoy it. If I see the "Wild Strawberry" or "Honey Almond" varieties on the shelf, I'll probably give them a try -- for a change of pace.

And to answer the question -- I prefer my cereal crispy (although that's not always an option with some of the cereals I eat). But I must admit, the thing I like most about soggy cereals is the fact that the milk that is left in the bottom of the bowl takes on the cereal's flavor and is actually very tasty. - 1/12/2011   9:52:29 AM
